The People's Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah has stated that he will not participate in the governorship town hall meeting organized by the Coal City Elite Forum in partnership with Daria Media Production and others.
Mbah who made this known through a statement signed by the head of his media office, Dan Nwomeh cited his pre-scheduled engagement on same day outside the state as his reason for being absent at the event.
According to Nwomeh, the frontline guber candidate is willingness to participate in governorship debates provided that ample notice is given to him and the organizers guarantee neutrality with rule of engagement clearly stated and enforced.
The press statement reads as follow:
"Dr Peter Mbah not participating in a governorship town hall meeting today
"The Peter Mbah Media Office has been inundated with calls from our teeming supporters regarding the information making the rounds on the social media to the effect that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, would today be participating in a governorship town hall meeting being organised by the Coal City Elite Forum in partnership with Daria Media Production and others.
"However, the true position is that our governorship candidate will not be available for the town hall event due to the short notice given and his pre-scheduled engagement on the same day outside the state. We have duly communicated this both verbally and in writing to the organisers.
"Meanwhile, we wish to state that Dr. Peter Mbah is ever willing and indeed looking forward to participating in governorship debates to enrich the electoral process and our democracy, provided that sufficient notice is given, neutrality of the organisers guaranteed, and the rules of engagement clearly outlined and enforced.
"Also, Dr. Peter Mbah will continue to feature in audience participation programmes and speaking engagements, and direct interface with Ndi Enugu, trade unions, professional bodies, and our communities as he is currently doing across the 68 Development Centres of Enugu State to secure their buy-in for his comprehensive manifesto and roadmap for the quantum leap of Enugu State, once he is elected as governor in the forthcoming elections.
"May we equally seize this opportunity to invite Ndi Enugu and members of the public to join us virtually at the Interactive Town Hall Meeting with members of the Enugu Sports Club tomorrow, January 15, 2023, at 7.00 pm which will be live-streamed on different online platforms.
