The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to embrace environmental protection and cleanliness as a collective social responsibility.
Mrs Tinubu made the appeal on Monday in Abuja in a message to mark the 2026 International Day of Clean Energy, celebrated globally under the theme “Clean Energy for People and Planet.”
She described the occasion as a reminder of the shared duty of all citizens to protect and preserve the environment for present and future generations.
According to her, adopting renewable energy sources and sustainable technologies is crucial to survival, healthy living and responsible environmental stewardship.
“I urge us all to embrace renewable energy and sustainable technologies as an essential foundation for survival, healthy living, and environmental stewardship,” she said.
“Let us work together to build a greener, healthier planet for all.”
The First Lady also wished Nigerians a happy International Day of Clean Energy.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the International Day of Clean Energy is observed annually on January 26, following its declaration by the United Nations General Assembly through resolution A/77/327.
The day aims to raise awareness and promote action towards a just and inclusive transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet.
