The Member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, has commenced the distribution of 30 transformers to communities across Nkanu East and Nkanu West, in a major intervention aimed at strengthening electricity infrastructure in the constituency.
The exercise, captured in a video accompanying Nnaji’s Independence Day message, showed transformers being handed over to representatives of various communities at the respective local government secretariats.
Among those who spoke to newsmen at the distribution venues were Edebeze Ugochukwu of Amechi Idodo, Edeh Francis of Ugbawka, and Anthony Nnam, Chief Security Officer of Ishiagu Akpawfu.
The community representatives expressed appreciation to Nnaji, describing the intervention as a practical response to the electricity challenges confronting their communities. They also commended what they described as his continued contributions to community development.
The beneficiaries further prayed for Nnaji’s re-election in 2027, with some expressing confidence that he would receive strong support from their communities.
The distribution marks a significant step in the intervention, with installation, connection and energisation expected to follow before the transformers become operational.
Nnaji said the initiative reflected the commitment he made to constituents when he sought their mandate to represent them at the National Assembly.
“When I sought the mandate of my people to serve in the National Assembly, I made a commitment that the journey would be about touching lives, opening opportunities, attracting development and ensuring that the voice of our constituents is heard where decisions are made,” he said.
He added:
“Politics should not end with elections. The real test of representation begins after the mandate is given.”
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to constituency development in his Independence Day message and wished Nigerians a peaceful Independence Anniversary.
With the distribution now underway, the intervention is expected to provide additional electricity infrastructure for beneficiary communities across Nkanu East and Nkanu West once installation and energisation are completed.
