The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has assured party stakeholders in Ebonyi State that it will soon reconstitute the State Executive Council.
It said the new council would be constituted in such a way that the interests of all the tendencies will be accommodated.
This was part of decisions taken during the 586th PDP NWC meeting held in Abuja, Wednesday.
This was revealed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba.
He explained that the NWC irevisited the issue of the Ebonyi Caretaker Committee and considered the imperatives of bringing all stakeholders of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State together.
Ologunagba said, “After an extensive deliberation of issues, it was resolved that the NWC convene a meeting of critical stakeholders at which meeting an all-inclusive new Caretaker Committee will be constituted for the State Chapter.
“The NWC enjoins all PDP members in Ebonyi State to continue to work together in the overall interest of the people and the good people of Ebonyi State.”
Recall, the Ebonyi State chapter of the party has been in tormoil since the then Governor now Minister of Works, David Umahi dumped the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the 2023 general elections and attempted to drag the entire party structure along with him.
After his exit, several tendencies within the party struggled for dominance and in the process left the party gasping for breath.
PDP had governed the state since the return of democracy in 1999 but fell to the APC in 2023.
