Desperation, Frustration Expose Edeoga's Deeply Flawed Personality

Desperation begets frustration, and when frustration beclouds a man's thinking faculty, he behaves in an inordinate manner and wallows in confusion for the rest of his life, unless remedial measures are urgently taken to rescue him from total ruination.

The series of inglorious outings recently made by the sacked Labour Party guber candidate, Chijioke Edeoga is a clear indication that he is wallowing in desperation and self deceit. To the glory of God, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja was kind enough in its recent judgement that sacked Edeoga. The court decision has helped to avert the disaster of erroneously ceding power to such a misfit. God forbid that Chijioke Edeoga, a habitual failure in all public offices he has held, be included on the ballot paper for the 2023 governorship election in Enugu State.

Prior to the high court judgment that sacked Edeoga as the Labour Party governorship candidate, series of negative reports against him had emerged, ranging from allegation of incompetence, to the #2bn Enugu LGA News magazine scam, mismanagement of Isi Uzo LGA fund, and homosexuality, among others.

The piteous spectacle of Edeoga on being caught on camera shouting "candidate sir, candidate, I am a candidate sir, Your Excellency, candidate, candidate, candidate, candidate..." while struggling to take a picture with Peter Obi has left political watchers in utter shock. Chai! What a disgrace. Crying like a baby just to have a selfie with Peter Obi. That desperation alone was enough to make Peter Obi avoid Edeoga the more because Obi obviously wouldn't believe an authentic guber candidate could descend so low like a tout and struggle for picture. What for? Edeoga's egregious behaviour in that event is akin to that of a blackmailer shopping for material for his illicit job, and Obi as a wise man avoided him.

How can a self acclaimed governorship candidate struggle to take picture with another candidate of the same party? That is a clear indication that Edeoga is not contesting any election because he is not known by prominent members of his political party. The worst is that the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi who is from the same zone with Edeoga did not know him he had to disgracefully struggle, beg for just a selfie with Obi. By now, it is expected that if Edeoga's handful of blind followers have some shame left, they should bury their heads in it and make a U-turn in their support for the sacked candidate.

Moreso, Edeoga desecrated the highly revered Igbo traditional red cap by his lack of public decorum. The red cap is only worn by respected titled chiefs who understand the dignity attached to it. Edeoga's cap nearly fell off from his head while he struggled for Peter Obi to take a picture with him. That show of shame exposed Edeoga's unpopularity and deeply flawed personality.

Beside the countless allegations dogging Edeoga, his performance at the Enugu Business Community Town Hall meeting organized by Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA in collaboration with Enugu Coalition of Business and Professional Association, ECOBPA was adjudged by a lot of media reporters as incoherent, awful and fell far below the standard expected of a governorship aspirant.

A notable political analyst, Stanley Nwafor also noted that "Edeoga's poor performance at the ECCIMA Town Hall meeting held recently in Enugu shows that Edeoga is both intellectually and academically deficient. Having little or nothing to say about his plan for Enugu State, Edeoga practically deviated from the topic under discussion and settled for throwing tantrums on the People's Democratic Party, PDP's candidate, Dr. Peter Mbah who had wowed his audience while dissecting his manifesto on the same stage few days before Edeoga took his turn.”

Conclusively, despite the fact that according to previous reports, Edeoga's kinsmen in utter disappoinment of his repugnant attitude disowned and banished him from their community, they must realize that he still remains their biological son and should call him to order to avoid further disgrace and embarrassment. A man who cannot manage himself and immediate family shouldn't be daydreaming of wearing an oversized shoe by aspiring to be the governor of a state. This is ridiculous and a symptom of psychological malfunction, because in all ramifications, Edeoga lacks the character, personality, disposition and moral tenets to aspire for such an exalted office.
