*Don't be Deceived: Sit-at-home Has Nothing to do with the Agitation for Nnamdi Kanu's Release*

By Damian Eze

One of the means by which Simon Ekpa deceives his gullible followers is create the impression his sit-at-home order is an agitation strategy for Nnamdi Kanu's release from detention by way of civil disobedience. On the contrary, sit-at-home is an evil way by which Ekpa and haters of Nnamdi Kanu and the Igbo cause hope to continue to keep Kanu in prison, and destroy Ndigbo economically and otherwise. This is because so long as Kanu remains in prison, Simon Ekpa and his partners in crime would continue to smile to the banks with millions of dollars drained off Biafrans in Diaspora who are made to believe he works in the interest of the Biafra cause.

Has anyone asked themselves why Kanu distanced himself from the sit-at-home order? Has anyone paused to find out why IPOB is opposed to sit-at-home, and Emma Powerful, the IPOB Chief spokesperson, on several occasions denounced it? It is because Simon Ekpa and his co travellers on the infamous route to knavery and crime are using sit-at-home to reap off IPOB sympathizers. Quite another dimension to it is the suspicion that haters of Ndi Igbo are using Simon Ekpa to destabilize the economy of the Southeast, and render the people down and out. Already, the enterprising spirit of Ndi Igbo has morphed into indolence since the people are deceived to buy into Ekpa's sit-at-home order ostensibly meant for Kanu's release. The more you look, the less you see. This debilitating dummy sold to Ndi Igbo is a dinosaur on our back hoisted by one of our own who has turned himself into a demon.

It baffles common sense that Ndi Igbo would pander to the whims of an ill-bred vagabond of Ekpa hue. Such a half-educated urchin, grovelling in Finland would issue orders and we would obey with trepidation. Time there was when the Igbo man was known for bravery and fearlessness. Today, we fret our gizzards green once Ekpa coughs. Millions of Ndi Igbo today cringe before Ekpa and his few accomplices who may not even be up to 50 persons. It is unfortunate how so much terror is visited on so many by so few.

So long as Kanu remains in prison, Ekpa and his men would continue to feast on donations meant to enforce sit-at-home. Can anyone imagine the humongous sums running into millions of dollars he rakes in from IPOB sympathizers all over the world, who are taken in by Ekpa's ruse? Part of the funds are used to procure weapons with which Ekpa's unknown gunmen kill the Biafrans for whom he purportedly seeks their freedom. Ndi Igbo, who did this to us?

It actually takes reading in-between the lines to see through Simon Ekpa's dastardly sophistry with which Ndi Igbo are swayed. Ekpa and co know quite well that Ndi Igbo are emotional about Biafra and Nnamdi Kanu. So, anything he cooks up would be bought by the people and the financiers.

A genuine freedom fighter would consider the welfare of the people for whom he fights. Sit-at-home has shown to be a case of double jeopardy to Southeast. While Kanu languishes in the gulag, the people are being killed by Ekpa and his men, and the economy of the Southeast suffers terrible retrogression, as Ekpa smiles to the banks.

To tell you that many are deceived to believe sit-at-home is meant for Kanu's release, you get people make comments that once Kanu is released sit-at-home would naturally die off. Now, does it in anyway look as though the federal government would release Kanu because of sit-at-home even if Southeast decides to sit at home everyday? How does sit-at-home affect the planners of Nigerian economy at Abuja? We sat at home while Buhari looked the other way. How has sit-at-home helped Nnamdi Kanu and the Biafra cause? Not at all!

Simon Ekpa is from Ebonyi State; sit-at-home is not observed in Ebonyi. Nnamdi Kanu hails from Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, and Umuahia does not observe sit-at-home. Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State cancelled sit-at-home in Anambra State no sooner than he was sworn in as governor, because as an economist, he understands the negative economic and security implications of sit-at-home. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State would have non of it for the obvious reasons of economic and security implications.

It is clear that many are deceived to believe sit-at-home is ordered to help the release of Nnamdi Kanu. If anything, sit-at-home is meant to perpetuate Kanu's imprisonment. So long as Kanu is kept in prison, Simon Ekpa smiles to the banks. Simon Ekpa cannot mourn more than the bereaved. Kanu and IPOB said they did not want sit-at-home. If Ekpa is not benefitting from it, why should he continue to order sit-at-home when the person for whom he purports to order it had clearly denounced and distanced himself from it? It is not kindness but the need for clean teeth that makes the hippopotamus open its mouth wide for the river bird to perch at. Simon Ekpa hates Nnamdi Kanu, and wants to keep him in prison that he may continue to benefit from his detention, using the conduit pipe of sit-at-home.

Let us support the Southeast governors, especially the governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in keeping with the cancellation of Ekpa's evil sit-at-home order.

Right strategies have been put in place to engineer political solution to Kanu's release. Governor Mbah's efforts are commendable. He has initiated talks with President Tinubu, and we hope to receive the news of Kanu's release soon, even to the shame of Ekpa and his vampires who drink the blood of Ndi Igbo in disguised genocide.
