The wife of the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, Mrs. Onyinyechi Ejim, in partnership with the First Lady of Enugu state, Her Excellency, Nkechinyere Mbah has empowered women from the 14 political wards of the council area with cassava grinding machines and other items.
Mrs. Ejim who gave out the items during the well organized Nkanu West 2023 August Women Meeting, used the opportunity to appreciated the First Lady of Enugu State, for her immense support to Enugu state women.
She pointed out in her speech that "Nkanu West Local Government August Women Meeting meeting/Empowerment Program was inspired by Her Excellency, the wife of Governor Peter Mbah to encourage women to be productive as well as supportive to their husbands and households.
"The First Lady of Enugu State has done so much to promote the welfare of women across the state, and this August Women Meeting/Empowerment Program is one of the numerous projects Her Excellency has in stock for women in Enugu state".
Mrs Ejim also thanked her husband, Nkanu West Council Chairman for always giving priority attention to women affairs in the local government. She called on all the mothers in the local government area to endeavor to pray always for the Council Chairman and all the men in the local government, stressing that prayer is the major way through which women can support their husbands.
Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, Hon Uchenna Callistus Ejim who thanked the women for their overwhelming support to his administration, encouraged them to make good use of the cassava grinding machines and others items given to them.
The Council Chairman noted that his government has carried out at least three projects in each of the fourteen wards in Nkanu West LGA, stressing that more people oriented projects are underway.
Other dignitaries who witnessed the occasion are the Secretary to the local government, Hon Sunday Edeh, Supervisors, Special Advisers to the Local Government Chairman, among others.
