BY PRINCE UGOCHUKWU NWANJOKU
There is no gainsaying the fact that Dr. Peter Mbah, former chief of staff to the government of Enugu state, is a force to be reckoned with in the political sphere and calculus of this state. This is especially so if the circumstances that surrounded his emergence as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are taken into consideration.
The highly cerebral politician whose guest for a better society fire his interest in politics is indisputably a monumental blessing to his generation, he is not in politics for what he would garner out of the system but rather, how he would use politics as a veritable tool to make this life better than he met it.
Apart from his noble birth, Dr. Mbah who is widely traveled, sufficiently educated, highly connected with a solid business background, has been witnessing been instrumental to the genuine democratic governments in the state, and have been a potent tool of institutional meaningful development in the advanced economies which could be replicated in Enugu, his fatherland if given the opportunity to govern her.
One unique attribute that fascinates and draws his numerous admirers and supporters to him is that the scion of his private sector achievements in the Nigeria downstream oil and gas sector, is an independent-minded man who does not like to hide under his noble achievements and the international fame of his business conglomerates to accomplish his goals. This is perhaps the reason why the enigmatic political figure hardly drops or flaunts his power of affluence or accomplishment to gain a favour.
Another verifiable plus for the PDP gubernatorial candidate is that he is a metaphorical bridge between the youths and the old. He does not joke with philanthropic activities. As the son of the soil, who made his first political debut as a Chief of Staff, and some point, the Commissioner for Finance, Enugu state, during his time in office, he was largely instrumental to the building of financial and political pathway for the sustainability of the smooth power transition in our state democracy, Dr. Mbah has proved to be a worthy head of the PDP family led by the first democratically elected governor in 1999, Sen. Dr. Chimaroke Ogbonnia Nnamani, MD FACOG (Ebeano) who has put the largely family together to the admiration of all and sundry.
Beyond politics, the PDP gubernatorial hopeful is at home in all the three senatorial zones of the state as he maintains and oils friendship who have become his political assets. True to type, there cannot be another rare quality that is endearing Dr. Mbah to Ndi-Enugu and many admirers in all the spheres of life.
The way and manner that Dr. Mbah emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of PDP is a testimony to the fact that he is not a rookie in politics as it is on record that he played a significant and prominent role in the electoral success of the PDP administration in Enugu since 1999.
Dr. Mbah who is unarguably is the best bet for the governorship tenancy of lion building in 2023 is not an unwilling candidate and he knows his onions as far as governance is concerned. The PDP gubernatorial candidate definitely knows where the shoe pinches as he has promised to reinvent the Enugu's security architecture, eradicate poverty head count, create jobs through innovative programmes and turn the state a hub for an investment destination for business where the citizenry could go about their businesses and sleep with their eyes closed without any fear of being molested or attacked by the bandits or kidnappers who have penetrated the fabrics of the length and breadth of Nigeria, and assured his proactiveness to stem the tide in the state before it rears its ugly heads, if elected the governor in the 2023
It is only a gubernatorial candidate who is worth his salt like Dr. Mbah who could choose to prioritize the issue of security, job creation and making the state an investment destination as it is the bedrock of all developmental programmes. It is when there is peace that anyone could talk of any other programmes which is the reason it is occupying a first-line charge if elected the governor.
Peter Mbah who have been engaging the people in a town hall series, organized by his campaign organization to meet with the 68 development centres across the three senatorial zones. Recently, he vowed to improve on the welfare of the people, stating "we need to address the security architecture. This is there. We need to ensure programme implementation and look at the welfare of our people. The trust should remain alive as the common man must have reasons to feel the presence of a government. I am coming with zeal to change this mindset" Dr. Mbah promised.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate who hinted that Ndi-Enugu should asign to him their obligations through votes, explained that it wasn't about sentiment but the future of our state. Indeed, PDP has a great asset to market to Ndi-Enugu to be elected the next governor of the state. Tomorrow Is Here.
