A nongovernmental organization base in Enugu State, known as AFAMCHRIS Foundation has offered scholarship awards to ten (10) brilliant but indigent students in Aninri Local Government Area of the state. The beneficiaries who were randomly selected based on their outstanding academic performances and desires to further their education were draw from three public schools in Ndeaboh town.
The award presentations took place Friday, in the three benefiting schools amidst jubilation and excitement by students and teachers of the schools, which are Community Secondary School, Agboechara High School and Uhugo Technical College, all in Ndeaboh.
AFAMCHRIS Foundation was established for the purpose of touching lives of the downtrodden members of the society through free medical outreach, provision of portable (borehole) water for people in remote areas, bursary and scholarship awards among other humanitarian services.

While formally presenting the award cheque to the awardees in their various schools, the founder and CEO of the foundation, Hon. Afam Christian Okafor, popularly known as AFAMCHRIS who was represented by a management staff of the foundation, Hon. Princess Obianuju Ikpenwa congratulated the beneficiaries for being among the lucky students who were randomly selected for the 2023 scholarship awards.
In her speech, Princess Obianuju described the founder of AFAMCHRIS Foundation as "a known philanthropist who has been carrying out different selfless community development services to the people of Aninri." She however advised the beneficiaries to endeavor to make good grades in their Senior School Certificate Examination, emphasizing that "it will go a long way to encourage AFAMCHRIS to invest more in the Foundation."
According to Princess Ikpenwa, "the scholarship project is expected to see the beneficiaries through their university education. The foundation has paid for their Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC), and will also sponsor their registration for Joint Admission and Matriculation (JAMB) Examinations. If they meet the requirements and consequently offered admissions into higher institution, AFAMCHRIS Foundation will sponsor them until they graduate from the university," she explained.
While addressing the students of Community Secondary School Ndeaboh, a member of the foundation's Project Team who is also undergoing her one year National Youth Service, Miss Oji Merit Ogechukwu, assured them that "with the existence of AFAMCHRIS Foundation, a brighter future awaits brilliant students". The corp member who is a native of Ndeaboh community noted that she dressed in her NYSC regalia to inspire the students, because she is a product of the school.
In their separate speeches, the Principals of Community Secondary School, Uhugo Technical College, Agboechara High School, Mrs Ani Patritia, Mr. Kamah Dominic and Mrs Ekoh A. D. respectively, commended the kind gesture of AFAMCHRIS Foundation in giving the indigent students the opportunity to actualize their dreams in life. They prayed for the progress of the Foundation, and wished them well in their mission.
Other stakeholders who participated in the exercise are Hon. Luisa Achieze, who is a former Councilor of Ndeaboh ward, Hon. Chimezie Nwankwo and Mrs Achiama Emilia. Others include teachers from the various schools, Orji George, Peace Chidienem, Akpa Philip, Ogbonna Favour, Mrs Ndukwe M. A, Oko Nnamaeka, Mrs. Achielekwa V. I among others.
