Stakeholders of Igbo Etiti Local Government Area in Enugu State have showered praise on Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing his leadership as visionary, inclusive, and transformative. The commendation came during a high-level appreciation gathering hosted by Hon. Chidera Odo, which brought together political leaders, community stakeholders, labour leaders, and captains of industry from the area.
The event was organised to express gratitude to Governor Mbah for appointing Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Stakeholders agreed that the appointment reflects the governor’s commitment to merit, competence, and strategic leadership in key institutions.
Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Chidera Odo thanked Governor Mbah for what he described as fair and impactful appointments given to indigenes of Igbo Etiti Local Government Area. He noted that the appointment of Professor Ortuanya stands out as a historic milestone with long-term benefits for education and human capital development in Enugu State.
Hon. Chidera Odo stated that Governor Mbah’s style of governance has restored confidence among the people and strengthened trust between the government and local communities. According to him, the administration has shown that development can be driven through inclusiveness, competence, and clear vision.
During the event, Hon. Chidi Aro, a former Commissioner for Information, moved a motion that Igbo Etiti Local Government Area should give full and total support to Governor Peter Mbah’s re-election for a second term. The motion was unanimously adopted by stakeholders present.
The motion was seconded by a former member of the Federal House of Representatives who represented the Igbo Etiti and Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency. He praised Governor Mbah for delivering tangible projects and policies that have positively affected the lives of residents across the local government area.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Malachy Agbo, highlighted the pace and scale of infrastructural development recorded under the Mbah administration. He said the level of progress achieved within two years is unprecedented in Enugu State’s history.
Rt. Hon. Agbo stressed that continuity in leadership is necessary to sustain ongoing projects and consolidate the gains already recorded. He described Governor Mbah as a leader who understands planning, execution, and accountability.
Several prominent figures attended the gathering, reflecting the broad support for the governor. Among them were the Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Ezenta Ezeani, and the Deputy Chairman of Igbo Etiti Local Government Council, Hon. Mrs. Okagu.
Also present was a former Council Chairman and current Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Rt. Hon. Ogbonna Idike, alongside the immediate past Commissioner for Lands, Hon. Barr. Chidi Aroh. Party leadership was represented by the Igbo Etiti Party Chairman, Hon. Paul Okoro Ike (APC).
Other stakeholders included former Chairman of Igbo Etiti Local Government Rt. Hon. Ignatius Ishenyi, Rt. Hon. Engr. Festus Ozoemena (Ezeabunike), and the Member representing Igbo Etiti West in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Williams Amuka.
The labour movement was represented by Comrade Fabian Neighbor of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Enugu State chapter. The private sector also featured prominently, with business leaders such as Engr. Collins Otegbulu of Globacom in attendance.
Stakeholders at the gathering agreed that Governor Mbah’s administration has delivered visible development across Enugu State, particularly in infrastructure, governance reforms, and public service delivery. They noted that the governor’s leadership has repositioned Enugu as a state focused on growth, innovation, and results.
The meeting ended with a unified resolve by Igbo Etiti stakeholders to continue supporting Governor Peter Mbah and to work together to strengthen development at the grassroots. According to them, the unity fostered by Hon. Chidera Odo reflects a shared commitment to progress and effective leadership.
