Ordinarily, Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the crisis-ridden and directionless Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should not be dignified with response over his recent misrepresentations and misyarnings on Arise Television about ex- Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, after the latter 's defection to All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside his successor, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and other political leaders in Enugu State.
Yes Abdullahi shouldn't be responded to, because he is nobody other than a meddlesome interloper and drowning man seeking cheap popularity on national television.
Apart from being handpicked to serve as Deputy National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Abdullahi has no political history of contesting or winning elections anywhere before now. He could be best described as political greenhorn or neophyte. That is by the way.
To put the record straight, it is obvious that Abdullahi has no much stake in the PDP, where ex Governor Ugwuanyi was a foundation member, leader and a major stakeholder for over two decades, before the likes of Abdullahi and his paymasters plunged the party into unimaginable and lingering crisis, out of greedy, oppression and desperation for power.
A Deputy National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Abdullahi is just a mere ceremonial officer and spare trye that has no specific functions and should not be heard, except in the absence of substantive National Publicity Secretary. That is why Abdullahi has been anonymous in the PDP, only to forcefully and hurriedly jumped on Arise Television recently after being hired, induced and compromised to castigate ex Governor Ugwuanyi and other PDP leaders.
For the benefits of doubt, it is on record that Ugwuanyi has an unbroken and unblemished record of consistency, transparency, accountability and pacificism in the public office and party loyalty in PDP spanning two decades before now.
So there is nothing wrong in Ugwuanyi’s recent move to the APC alongside his successor, Governor Mbah and other major political leaders in his state. This is especially when it has become obvious that some unscrupulous elements and undertakers like Abdullahi and his cohorts have plagued PDP with perpetual crisis ahead of the 2027 general elections for selfish reasons.
Lest we may have forgotten; the history of PDP in Nigeria cannot be completed, without mentioning the enormous and enduring roles and contributions of Ugwuanyi in supporting and sustaining the party.
Ugwuanyi is a man of impeccable character and a pacifist par excellence, who has paid his dues and deserves due recognitions and respect from all Nigerians, including an attention seeker and usurper like Abdullahi, who appeared on television to cast needless aspersion on him.
Meanwhile, Abdullahi's antics shouldn't be surprising to anyone as it appeared to be one of the usual sponsored and orchestrated campaigns of calumny and character assassination against Ugwuanyi by some political detractors and traducers that had always been envious of his unprecedented political exploits and likely political elevation and importance ahead of 2027 general elections. This cannot and will not change anything, because Ugwuanyi is a unique person and exceptional leader with a lot of good will and love.
