An APC Chieftain of Nkanu West local council in Enugu State, Hon. Chidiebere Ezeh, has bemoaned the 100 days in office of Hon. Uche Ejim, the Executive Chairman of his local council.

Ezeh, who was a contender for the office of the Executive Chairman of the local council under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2022 local council election in Enugu State made this known in a statement signed by him and made available to our Enugu correspondent.

The opposition politician accused the Chairman of not achieving anything tangible 100 days after he took over the leadership of the local council as the Executive Chairman.

The statement read “Uche Ejim has nothing to show for his first 100 days in office. All his spur-of-the-moment and unrealistic promises made during the campaign has been denied. What we now see as an achievement are mere media propaganda.

“He should show our people one tangible thing he has achieved so far other than using our collective scarce resources to service the needs of a few while the economy and security of Nkanu West is sliding gradually to a halt

“In fact, insecurity is on the rise in Nkanu West. His administration lacks cohesion as well as promotes division among the diverse political stakeholders that had made Nkanu West proud”.

Reacting to the statement, the Media Aide to the Executive Chairman, Buchi Nnaji, described the statement made by Ezeh as an attempt to seek attention.

He said “Before Ejim was elected as the local council Chairman, insecurity and activities of gunmen was on the rise in Nkanu West, as most of their escape routes were through communities in Nkanu West.

“Ejim came into office and boosted the morale of the neighborhood watch. He did this by organizing and facilitating highly sophisticated & advanced security training for them by security experts twice. He has also been promptly paying their emoluments.

“He didn’t stop there; he ensured the presence of the military to boost security in the local government. The construction of a security post with accommodation at Amodu boundary is a plus to his administration and our people have since been sleeping with their two eyes closed.

“Away from security, has he not seen that the council headquarters has taken a new look? The Chairman has installed solar powered lights in the council headquarters.

“The Chairman has provided wheel chairs for a lot of differently abled persons and is one of the two local government chairmen out of the seventeen of them to have commenced the payment of leave allowances of the local government staff from 2018.

“He has commenced efforts to stabilize Adult education in the local government, among many other achievements.

“Contrary to his claims, Ejim has ensured that there is a highly appreciable level of symphony and co-existence among the super stakeholders of Nkanu West, a feat for which he has been lauded on uncountable occasions.

“Uche Ejim is too engaged with providing dividends of democracy for his people that he won’t be distracted by the activities of attention seekers”, Nnaji said.
