Hon. Nnam John C. (Jaja) has emerged as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State following the party’s local government congress held on March 7, 2023.

His emergence came through a consensus arrangement agreed upon by party stakeholders and delegates, a development widely interpreted as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership capacity and political experience.

A seasoned politician with a reputation for strong grassroots mobilization, Hon. Nnam’s selection has been welcomed by party members and supporters across the local government area, many of whom described him as the right choice to lead the party at a time when preparations for upcoming political activities and electioneering campaigns are gathering momentum.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Hon. Nnam expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders and delegates for the trust placed in him.

“I sincerely thank the leaders and members of our great party in Nkanu West for the confidence they have shown in me. This responsibility is a call to service, and I assure everyone that I will not disappoint,” he said.

He pledged to run an inclusive leadership that would unite members and strengthen the party’s structure across the local government area.

“My commitment is to carry everyone along irrespective of our diverse interests. Together, we will work to ensure that the PDP remains strong, united and well positioned for future electoral victories,” Hon. Nnam added.

Party members who spoke with AnchorNews during the PDP State Congress held on 14 March, 2026 commended the consensus decision that produced him, noting that his experience and grassroots connection would further strengthen the party in the area.

A party stakeholder, Mr. Ifeanyi Okafor, described his emergence as well deserved, saying, “Hon. Nnam has always demonstrated commitment to the growth of the party. He understands the grassroots and has the ability to mobilize support across communities.”

Similarly, another party member, Mrs. Ngozi Edeh, expressed optimism about his leadership, stating that “his emergence through consensus shows the level of trust party members have in him. We are confident that he will unite the party and lead it effectively.”

Many party faithful in Nkanu West have therefore pledged their support for the new chairman, expressing confidence that his leadership will further consolidate the PDP’s strength and cohesion in the local government area.
