A frontline governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Samson Chukwu Nnamani, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, recorded a landslide victory in the party’s governorship primary election held in his political ward, Akpawfu/Ishienu/Amagunze.
Nnamani, popularly known as Odera, polled a total of 808 votes to overwhelmingly defeat his closest rival, Uche Nnaji, who secured only four votes in the exercise.
The primary election witnessed a massive turnout of party delegates, supporters, and PDP members who trooped out in large numbers to participate in the voting process.
Party faithful at the venue described the turnout as unprecedented, noting that the exercise was peaceful, orderly, and transparent despite the huge crowd that gathered to cast their votes.
Supporters of Nnamani erupted in jubilation immediately after the announcement of the result, chanting solidarity songs and expressing confidence in his chances ahead of the main governorship contest.
Speaking shortly after the declaration of the result, Nnamani thanked delegates and party members for what he described as an overwhelming show of confidence and support.
He assured party faithful of his commitment to unity, grassroots development, and inclusive leadership, while urging members of the PDP to remain united ahead of future political engagements.
Observers say the outcome of the ward primary further strengthens Nnamani’s position as one of the leading contenders in the Enugu PDP governorship race.
