Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the traditional ruler of Okpuje autonomous community, Igwe Oliver Ayogu, has led other traditional rulers in the Nsukka zone to reaffirm their people's resolve to give all the candidates of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, their full support and votes, adding that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had done well in terms of security, infrastructure and social services.

He stressed that members of his family, community and other neighbouring communities would continue to pledge their loyalty to the party because of the dividends of dem ocracy they’ve been enjoying over the past years.

“I have told my people that our interest would be protected if we continue to support PDP because the gubernatorial candidate (Dr. Peter Mbah) is a different, more qualified and more competent candidate whose programmes positively outweighs those of other candidates vying for governorship position in Enugu State judging by the exploits he’s making in the private sector through his pinnacle wonders which I have always seen in the news,” the traditional ruler maintained.

He, however, appealed to the governorship flagbearer to remember the zone in terms of additional new infrastructure such as road construction, quality healthcare service delivery and a security post in the community.

Igwe Ayogu, while urging the Nsukka zone to queue behind the PDP gubernatorial frontrunner, insisted that voting for Dr. Mbah would guarantee the future of their children and ensure economic prosperity and security for the state.

Responding to the massive endorsement by the traditional rulers, the party’s governorship running mate, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, who represented the gubernatorial hopeful, said the development was worthy of the project which would see to a new dawn in the state.

While noting that the people had already taken ownership of the collective project, Barr. Ifeanyi assured that Dr. Mbah's administration would be driven by the desire to improve on the general welfare of the people, engage the youths in wealth creation, and partner with competent hands that would make the people proud of the state.

He further promised to address infrastructural deficits through his integrated development programmes, expand the resource base of the state, and run inclusive governance that will make every community the epicenter of his development trajectory.

He promised them that their manifesto is a testimony that they're prepared to take the state to the next level especially in the area of agriculture and agro-allied processing industry which will create value chain in the zone. He told them that Dr. Mbah will make sure that their community will take part in the agricultural revolution that will take place under their administration.
