LAGOS - Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Julius Agwu, has disclosed that he experienced sexual dysfunction following brain surgery he underwent in the United States in 2015.
Agwu made the revelation during an episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, where he discussed the physical, emotional and career-related consequences of the medical ordeal.
The comedian said the condition affected his sexual function after the surgery, describing the experience while responding to a question about whether the brain condition or treatment had affected other parts of his body.
Agwu underwent the operation in 2015 after doctors reportedly discovered three tumours in his brain, with one said to be about the size of a golf ball.
During the programme, other guests discussed the relationship between the affected area of his brain and a nerve involved in the procedure, appearing to link the nerve damage to the effect Agwu described.
The comedian, who has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria's entertainment industry, also reflected on his contribution to the country's comedy scene, particularly his role in developing music comedy.
Agwu said he believed he played a major role in pioneering the genre, noting that his creativity had been central to his career.
The conversation later became emotional as the comedian broke down while speaking about his career, personal struggles and the feeling that some of his friends had abandoned him during his difficult period.
He said some friends stopped communicating with him, expressing disappointment over what he described as desertion by people who had once been close to him.
Agwu has previously spoken publicly about his battle with the brain condition and the impact it had on his life and career.
