…Claims Obidients collected bribes to endorse of Frank, others

Chief Chijioke Edeoga, the Enugu State Labour Party governorship candidate has angrily attacked Obidients movement in the state over their alleged endorsement of Frank Nweke Jnr, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and other governorship candidates in the state, declaring that he would still win election in the March 11 governorship poll without their votes.

Chief Edeoga who was addressing a group of supporters in Nsukka yesterday, lamented that Aisha Yusuf, a frontline Peter Obi’s supporter, had collected bribe to endorse Mr. Frank Nweke Jnr, even as he said he would still garner huge votes from the Nsukka population to win the election.

He accused some Obidients in the state for abandoning him for other guber candidates, saying they are misguided after collecting bribes from some candidates.

“You can see how misguided some of the youths are becoming. Why must they be engaging in anti-party activities? Our party is Labour Party and nobody can take away that from us.

“I personally mobilized the Obidients movement with my money. I sponsored them and I delivered Enugu State to Peter Obi. These youths cannot collect money from me only to abandon my project,” The Labour Party candidate said.

He called out on the Obidients to return the money they collected from him, adding that he doesn’t need their votes to win the election.

“I am going to win this election whether the Obidients vote for me or not. I have my base here in Nsukka and I’m counting on you, and we have a large population of voters. Nobody can win in Enugu State without Nsukka zone.

“Nsukka is my home, and you must always consider me as one of you. Like our Senator-elect, Barr. Okey Ezea said, I will concentrate most of our projects here in Nsukka zone and continue from where Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will stop,”Edeoga added.

It would be recalled that some Peter Obi’s followers known as Obidients in the state had been saying they would only settled for candidates with competence, capacity, excellent programmes, good antecedents and not a career politician rather than the sentiment of political parties.

They said Peter Obi had campaigned based on his track records in office and his successful business background which they lamented that the Labour Party candidate in the state had none of those qualities, accusing him that he has no manifesto and has never articulated his programmes for the people.
