A TikToker, Timothy Gabriel, has been remanded in Keffi Prison, Nasarawa State, over allegations that he insulted Regina Daniels, the wife of Ned Nwoko, the senator representing Delta North in the Nigerian Senate.

Sources told SaharaReporters that Gabriel was ordered into custody by the Magistrate, despite objections from his lawyer. The lawyer argued against the legality of the remand order, which had been requested by the police prosecutor acting on behalf of Senator Nwoko.

“Ned Nwoko, leveraging his influence, has engineered the detention of TikToker Tumma. Activist Omoyele Sowore stood by in his trademark fight against injustice, refusing to back down even when the police subtly suggested he walk away. Sowore insisted that every Nigerian deserves fair treatment,” a source said.

Gabriel’s lawyer pointed out that it was improper for the Magistrate to grant a remand order when investigators themselves admitted they hadn’t completed their investigation. He emphasized that it violated Gabriel’s rights to liberty, presumption of innocence, and fair hearing — stressing that no citizen should be jailed simply because a powerful figure filed a complaint, especially in the absence of formal charges.

The police prosecutor allegedly tried to intimidate the lawyer, suggesting he be tried for contempt for challenging the process. Tumma’s legal team urged the Magistrate not to appear biased or emotionally swayed.

The Magistrate, however, refused to reverse the remand order. According to observers, it appeared that arrangements behind the scenes outweighed the clear provisions of the law.

Notably, this isn’t Gabriel’s first ordeal — he had previously spent 50 days in detention under similar circumstances.

Sowore, who accompanied Gabriel to the FCT Police Command, warned that Gabriel now risks languishing in one of the country’s most notorious prisons — all because he allegedly offended Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko’s youngest wife and a Nollywood star.

Sowore described the situation as a gross abuse of power, involving the police and judiciary to suppress the rights of an ordinary citizen. He recounted how efforts to secure Gabriel’s bail were thwarted, including the secret.
