Two members of a Nollywood film production crew have been found dead at a movie location in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, prompting an investigation by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department.
The deceased were identified as Godstime Imeh, a lighting director and chief executive of GeeTee Light, and Walter Odediran, a creative video director popularly known as Director Carrinqton. Their bodies were discovered on Saturday evening inside a parked vehicle within the premises where a film was being shot.
The film was reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore.
According to sources, the two men arrived early at the location to install lighting equipment. After completing their task mid-morning, they reportedly rested inside Imeh’s tinted Nissan vehicle while waiting for further instructions. Breakfast, consisting of yam and omelette, was later delivered to them by a crew member.
Concern arose when repeated attempts to reach them by phone proved unsuccessful. They were later found lifeless in the vehicle, with the engine and air-conditioning said to have been running.
Confirming the development, police sources said the case was initially reported at the Maroko Police Station before being transferred to SCID, Yaba, and classified as an unnatural death requiring full investigation.
Family members of one of the deceased disclosed that an autopsy and toxicology tests are underway to determine the cause of death. Police have also questioned the film producer, a food vendor, and a crew member involved in delivering the meal, while the food vendor is currently in custody.
Investigators are examining possible environmental, mechanical, or ingestion-related factors, including the presence of industrial generators near the parking area. Authorities said all findings will remain provisional until forensic results are concluded.
The incident has thrown the Nollywood community and families of the deceased into mourning, as investigations continue.
