The Enugu State Governor-elect, Dr Peter Mbah has received the report of the Transition Committee which he set up and inaugurated on April 24 and 27 respectively, to streamline his manifesto to an implementable and impactful development plan when he takes over office as governor of the state.

The committee presented its report at the Old Government Lodge, Enugu, on Sunday, while appreciating the Governor-elect for the opportunity given to them to be part of the epoch-making administration, stressing that the report contained actionable plan drawn from the manifesto, which would bring radical transformation and disruptive innovation of the state if implemented.

While unveiling the report contained in different forms, the Chairman of the committee, Mr. Ike Chioke, lauded the maturity, coordination, cooperation and effort of the members for working round the clock across different parts of the world to meet the timeline given to them to produce something meaningful for the people.

He added that the committee was able to organize the manifesto into a more comprehensive framework with different categories which included, 7 Economic Pillars, 6 Investment Enablers, 3 Support Institutions and 5 Development Catalysts, stressing that the state was lucky to have a successful entrepreneur as its next governor poised to retool the sectors and achieve industrialisation within a measurable period of time.

He further expressed optimism that the targeted programmes and policies contained in the manifesto were achievable even as he said the committee would keep supporting the government when it’s called upon.

Some of the members who spoke on behalf of the different sub-committees which the body was divided into for expertise and specialisation purpose expressed confidence that they had delivered on the onerous mandate assigned to them and would be glad to see that Mbah achieves his set goals and delivers on his promises.

They equally conveyed their delight over the assignment, saying they were honoured and privileged that Mbah had decided to initiate a process that would make both the youths and the young ones the epicenter of his governance.

Reacting to the committee’s proactive response by ensuring that they delivered on time, the Governor-elect commended them for bringing their wealth of knowledge and diversity to bear in the affairs of the state, promising to hit the ground running with the working document before him.

He re-echoed his resolve to return the start back to its glorious days as one of the states that played historical and pivotal economic roles in the development trajectory of the country.

He assured that his administration would not waste time before implementing the laudable action plan, maintaining that as a state poised to partner with both individual investors and international organizations to attract development, he would focus on running a transparent government that would engender investors’ confidence in the system.

Mbah, who added that he would sign a Citizen Charter once he takes the oath of office, said this becomes necessary for accountability and traceability of funds and explanation of how people’s money is being spent on projects.

“The sacrifice and effort you’ve made will not be in vain because we are going to be cracking this report immediately,” he said.
