The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the party’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, rejecting claims of any parallel leadership structure within the party.

In a communiqué issued after a meeting held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, and attended by 29 state chairmen, the forum declared Damagun as the legitimate National Chairman of the PDP and restated its full confidence in the National Working Committee (NWC) under his leadership.

The chairmen commended the judiciary for what they described as a bold and well-considered judgment delivered by Justice Akintola, which has cleared the path for the party’s National Elective Convention slated for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

They urged all recognized delegates, as stipulated in the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), to begin preparations for the convention and elect credible, competent, and loyal members into the NWC.

Acknowledging the synergy between key party organs, the forum lauded the collaborative efforts of the NWC led by Damagun, the PDP Governors’ Forum chaired by Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Board of Trustees headed by Senator Adolphus Wabara, describing their partnership as vital to stabilizing and repositioning the party.

Emphasizing the need for party discipline, the forum urged state chapters to uphold the constitution and take firm action against members whose conduct undermines the unity and progress of the PDP.

Reiterating its commitment to party cohesion and electoral success, the forum distanced itself from the faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, stressing that Ambassador Umar Damagun remains the party’s only recognized national chairman.

“The Forum dissociates itself from the purported Abdurahman-led leadership and reaffirms that the PDP has only one National Chairman - Ambassador Umar Damagun,” the communiqué read.

The statement, jointly signed by Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State Chairman and Chairman of the Forum, and Edward Mashal, Kaduna State Chairman and Secretary, underscored the forum’s determination to strengthen unity, discipline, and internal democracy ahead of the national convention.
