It is not in doubt that as the clamour and clarion calls for the creation of additional state in the Southeast region for equity and fairness gathers momentum and traction across the country, the most viable and suitable state among the proposed states is Adada State.
The proposed Adada State in the present Enugu State is a recurring decimal in the state creation agitation for over two decades now, and comprises of the seven local governments which includes the six that make up Enugu North Senatorial zone and Isi-Uzo LGA, in the present Enugu East Senatorial zone.
Enugu North Senatorial zone is the most populated Senatorial zone in Enugu State, with over 60 per cent of the population of the state.
It is quite gladdening and interesting to observe that those who have consistently and boldly led campaigns and agitations for the creation of Adada State in recent times have anchored their justifications on the presence and availability of the needed and required infrastructure in the proposed state, which were provided by the immediate past administration in the state.
This development alone is a vindication of Ugwuanyi’s administration, which some naysayers and narcissists from the Enugu North Senatorial zone have mischievously and maliciously accused of non- performance without evidence.
As people of Nsukka work, pray and look forward for a possible creation of Adada State, it is good and just for them to always reference and acknowledge the numerous, verifiable and impactful infrastructure provided by the immediate past Governor of Enugu State, a visionary leader and true son of Nsukka. It is not out of place that the immediate past administration in the state provided in earnest these critical and unprecedented infrastructural projects and edifices in Enugu North Senatorial zone in anticipation and readiness for it to assume the enviable status of the capital of Adada State, when created.
These infrastructural projects include the dualised and illuminated Opi-Nsukka carriage way, which is the gateway to Nsukka, the proposed state capital of Adada, and has provided unprecedented face-lift to the once sleepy and rusty town. Also reconstructed and constructed are network of roads which were adorned with streetlights within the anticipated capital city.
At Ede Oballa axis are completed state secretariat annex and international conference. 5000 capacity international stadium is on the ground and in use.
The State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS ) Igbo Eno, which is the second university in Enugu North Senatorial zone more than four decades after the establishment of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) is already completed and in session for the second year.
The Federal Polytechnic Ohodo, attracted to the zone by the immediate past administration, has commenced academic programmes. All these critical infrastructure, institutions and development brought to the zone in the last eight years plus of immediate past administration in the state have improved standard of living, brought about the influx of people and Investments, added substantial value to assets, human beings and investments in Nsukka.
Night life and hospitality industry have improved significantly with the massive construction of hotels and nightclubs in Nsukka. As it is today, Nsukka is over developed, prepared, and qualified to serve as capital of the proposed Adada State. History will be kind to the visionary leader, who saw tomorrow and provided the befitting and critical infrastructure in Nsukka that have changed the status and outlook of the town.
