The newly sworn-in Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, has begun his tenure with an inspection of the Green Smart School in Ugbawka, signalling education and effective management of public infrastructure as early priorities of his administration.

During the inspection, Ogbuekwe assessed the facility, interacted with members of staff and examined its current state, including areas requiring attention.

The chairman said the school represents more than physical infrastructure, describing it as an investment in the future of children and the development of communities.

He emphasised the need for sustained attention to education, noting that the quality of opportunities provided to children today would shape their prospects in the future.

Ogbuekwe commended Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for the Smart Schools initiative and the broader efforts to improve basic education across the state.

He said Nkanu East Local Government would support the initiative by ensuring that government interventions within the area are properly maintained and effectively utilised for the benefit of residents.

The chairman also identified education, infrastructure, accountability and quality service delivery as key areas of focus for his administration.

He pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that government projects and interventions translate into tangible benefits for the people of Nkanu East.

Ogbuekwe described the inspection as the beginning of his administration’s efforts to strengthen service delivery and contribute to the development of a better and more prosperous Nkanu East.
