...re-appoints two former supervisors
...presents 2023 budget to the legislative arm
Following the recent termination of all political appointments in Nkanu West Local Government Area, LGA, and the need to reconstitute his cabinet, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Callistus Ejim has finally reconstituted his cabinet.
Recall that Hon Sunday Modecaiah took over immediately from Hon Offor Nnaji Hyacinth in November 2022 as Local Government Secretary.
Ejim, who announced the appointment, Tuesday at the Council Secretariat, Agbani also sent the list of five Supervisor nominees to the Legislative Arm of the Local Government for screening and confirmation.
This was contained in a letter addressed to the Leader of the Legislative Council and read by the clerk of the House during plenary. According to the letter, the nominees for screening include Odougwu Charles Ikenna, Nnamani Raymond and Omeanu Tony. Others are Nnaji Roseline and Agu Chukwuka.
After subjecting the nominees to thorough screening and finding them worthy, the legislators led by the Leader of the house, Hon. John Okorie unanimously endorsed the five of them for appointment as Supervisors. This was immediately followed by the swearing in of the nominees as substantive Honourable Supervisors by the Council Chairman who consequently assigned portfolios to the new Supervisors as they held their F&G PC.
According to the information emanating after their session, Odouwgu Charles is now the new Supervisor for Finance, while Nnamani Raymond who is the immediate past Supervisor for Lands now serve as the Supervisor for Works. Others include the immediate past Supervisor for Health, Mrs Nnaji Roseline who was reinstated into the same office with commendations for having done credibly well in that capacity. Omeanu Tony and Agu Chukwuka were assigned Supervisors for Education and Agriculture respectively.
Addressing the new Honourable Supervisors shortly after their swearing in, Ejim re~echoed to them that a lot is expected of them due to their past records, charged them to bring their vast experiences to bear in discharging their duties.
Earlier, the Council Chairman acting in accordance with provision of the law, presented the 2023 Budget Estimates to the Legislative Council for deliberations. He commended the Councilors for their "gallantry during the just concluded 2023 general elections, which saw the Local Government among the only two Local Government Areas in the entire State that recorded victory in the Gubernatorial, Senatorial, House of Reps and House of Assembly elections for our great party, the People's Democratic Party, PDP."
Attesting to the very cordial working relationship between the Executive and the Legislative Arm, Hon Ejim, who was a former Honourable Councilor, promised not to take their supports for granted as they are all united in their service to Ndi Nkanu West LGA, stressing that "TOMORROW IS HERE".
