AKURE, ONDO STATE - Ondo State Police Command has arrested a father, Oyewole Adamolekun, in the Ajue area of the state for alleged incest and impregnating his 15-year-old biological daughter.

Adamolekun, a resident of Taye Village, Lafa 2, Ajue Area, was apprehended following a report lodged by a resident at the Enu-Owa Divisional Police Headquarters, Ondo. The suspect is alleged to have been involved in a prolonged incestuous sexual relationship with his daughter, which authorities suggest may have started when the victim was as young as three years old, and has now resulted in a pregnancy.

Victim Confirmed Pregnant, Suspect Confesses

Following the swift arrest of the suspect, the 15-year-old victim was immediately taken for a medical examination. An ultrasound confirmed that the minor is over 19 weeks pregnant. During interrogation, police sources revealed that Adamolekun voluntarily confessed to the crime.

The State Police Command spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect is currently in police custody. The case has since been transferred to the Command’s Gender Desk for "diligent investigation and expedited prosecution."

Olayinka strongly condemned the act, describing it as "not only criminal but also morally reprehensible." He reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of sexual abuse, particularly against minors, and vowed that justice would be served with "utmost urgency, professionalism, and precision."

"The command will not relent in identifying, arresting, and prosecuting individuals involved in such heinous crimes," Olayinka warned, urging the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any form of abuse or suspicious behavior to the nearest police station.

In Separate Case, Man Arrested for Alleged Defilement and Drug-Induced Abortion

In a separate development, police detectives in the state also arrested 49-year-old Azeez Lamidi for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl and inducing an abortion using drugs in the Ogbagi-Akoko area.

The incident was reported by the victim's father, Salami, after his 14-year-old daughter began bleeding profusely. She was rushed to a hospital where medical personnel confirmed she had recently undergone a drug-induced abortion.

Upon interrogation, the victim revealed that Lamidi had been sexually abusing her repeatedly and allegedly administered drugs to her when he discovered she was pregnant, leading to the abortion. The victim has been referred to the State Specialist Hospital, Igbatoro, for comprehensive medical care, while the suspect remains in police custody.

Police Commissioner Adebowale Lawal has directed that this case also be transferred to the Command’s Gender Unit for thorough investigation. The Commissioner condemned the rising cases of child sexual abuse and reaffirmed the Command's commitment to ensuring justice.

Olayinka emphasized that the Command will not hesitate to "bring the full weight of the law upon anyone found culpable" of preying on minors or engaging in any form of sexual exploitation.
