As the campaign for 2023 general election continue to gain momentum, a strong contender, and the Labour Party House of Representatives candidate for Nkanu East/West federal constituency, Barr. John Edeh has said he joined the race as a result of poor representation of his people by the current member representating his constituency.

Speaking to newsmen in Enugu recently, Barr. Edeh noted that "today in my constituency, there is nothing to write home about as the dividends of democracy brought by the current representative. Our people are in serious need of scholarship to very bright students and youths in our communities who are the future leaders.

"As an ordinary person from Akpugo in Nkanu West LGA, I have personally awarded scholarships to indigent students and so many students today are enjoying this scholarship scheme which is a way of giving back to the society where I come from."

Barr. Edeh further pointed out that "it is on record and verifiable that in 2009, I installed a 500kva transformer at Ugwuagba village in Ndiagu Akpugo, Nkanu West LGA as part of my social responsibility. Moreso, my Junior brother has also been in the forefront of delivering infrastructures to the admiration of our people and this attitude runs in our family bloodline.

"So, you can imagine what the sit will be if I have the mandate of my people to represent them. I will ensure that the approved constituency projects are delivered as at when due instead of the current practice where contractors are given the opportunity to execute projects with out proper supervision thereby resulting in abandonment of such projects."

The Labour Party candidate for Nkanu East/West federal constituency who has been carrying out a robust campaign at the grassroots used the opportunity to urge his people to understand that "as the Labour Party mantra says, we will never take our constituents for granted, and going by my past records, it is obvious that I have the capacity to change the way we have been represented in the past."

Despite late hour efforts being made by the current member representating Nkanu East/West constituency at the green chamber, Nnoli Nnaji, Edeh seem to be enjoying greater support from the people of the area as some tend to believe that he is more accomodating, social and philanthropic than his rival, Nnaji whom according to some persons, find it difficult to socialize.
