Many had deep interest, nursed great ambition, and had assured expectations. They worked tirelessly and assiduously overtly and covertly. They are overqualified and deserved of the positions of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Igbo-Etiti LGA in all ramifications.

But the dynamism of politics, divine intervention, mystery of life, and God's manifestation have different plans over who emerged as number: 1 and 2 citizens of Igbo-Etiti LGA in the just concluded LGA election in Enugu State.

That was why unexpectedly favoured in the permutations and race for the two exalted seats against all odds were the two core professionals with outstanding track record and antecedent, Dr. Eric Ogbonna Odo, a professional medical expert and Barr. Chinasa Okagu Nwabufo, a seasoned lawyer and human rights activist of repute.

Throughout their vigorous electioneering campaigns in the 20 wards of Igbo-Etiti LGA, they were intentional,  consistent, mindful, patriotic and altrustic of their speeches and campaigns promises, that were all about development, good governance, democracy dividends, unity, peace, security and human empowerments.

Obviously, theirs were not the usual mere political campaign rhetorics, but statements of commitment and social contracts with the people of Igbo-Etiti LGA, who gave them rousing welcome and unalloyed support during the campaigns and massive votes during the election.

Psychologically, physically, emotionally, and administratively, they appeared ready and prepared to perform, despite being taken unawares by their emergence and choice, which was a complete paradigm shift in leadership recruitment in the local government.

As they are being sworn in tomorrow, I heartily urge all and sundry in Igbo-Etiti LGA to support their administration. They can not do it alone. Besides, the umbrella is big enough to contain everyone.

Just in line with our leader and Governor, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration, we are expectant of good governance and delivery of democracy dividends anchored on disruptive innovations and business unusual mantra for the betterment and overall development and unity of Igbo-Etiti LGA.

Congratulations, Dr. Eric Ogbonna Odo and Barr. Chinasa Okagu Nwabufo. I am confident and convinced that your emergence will usher in a new dawn in the administration and governance of our great local government, Igbo-Etiti LGA.
