Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has set up a brand new team of the police to patrol streets of Enugu with a view to rapidly respond to security issues in the state. The team is branded Distress Rapid Squad (DRS).

The governor has taken this proactive measure as part of his passion for total wellbeing of the Enugu citizenry in order to ensure the exponential economic growth of the state given the clear understanding that security is very important for the state to thrive economically.

The Distress Response Squad is created to replace the Police Urban Patrol which had been in comatose for a long time. Governor Mbah needed an active force that would patrol the length and breadth of Enugu streets in order to flush out daredevil criminals and their menace. Mbah's Enugu State has no place for crimes.

In that wise, the governor has made available many vehicles with which the squad would operate. The DRS reports to the Chief Security Officer, Government House Enugu as this would reduce bottlenecks in their response to security distress.
