The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akpugo Ward III, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, has announced the suspension of Chief Uche Godfrey Nnaji from the party over alleged anti-party activities and conduct considered detrimental to the unity and integrity of the party.

The suspension was conveyed in a formal letter issued by the Akpugo Ward III Executive Committee and jointly signed by the Ward Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Egbo, and the Ward Secretary, Kingsley Buniechukwuenu Nnam.

According to the letter, the suspension takes immediate effect pending the conclusion of investigations and disciplinary proceedings in line with the provisions of the PDP Constitution.

The ward executive stated that the decision followed petitions and allegations submitted by Hon. Afam Chika Nnamani of Isienu Akpawfu Ward in Nkanu East Local Government Area, accusing Chief Uche Nnaji of engaging in acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute.

The letter specifically alleged that Uche Nnaji sponsored and instigated one Mr. Chima Obi Ani to publish and circulate a video allegedly aimed at maligning and tarnishing the image of Chief Samson Chukwu Nnamani, described in the letter as a prominent PDP governorship aspirant in Enugu State.

The ward leadership noted that the alleged actions constitute a violation of Section 58 (1)(b), (f) and (h) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017.

It further disclosed that the Ward Disciplinary Committee invited Chief Uche Nnaji on two separate occasions to respond to the allegations, but he allegedly failed to appear before the committee.

According to the statement, the committee viewed the conduct as harmful to party discipline, internal harmony and mutual respect among members at a period when unity within the party remains critical.

Consequently, acting on the recommendations of the Ward Disciplinary Committee led by Barr. Ndubuisi Eze, the Executive Committee invoked Section 57 (3) of the PDP Constitution to suspend Chief Uche Godfrey Nnaji from all PDP activities in Akpugo Ward III for one month pending the outcome of ongoing disciplinary investigations.

The development is coming on the eve of the PDP governorship primary election in Enugu State, in which Chief Uche Godfrey Nnaji is one of the aspirants contesting for the party’s ticket.

Copies of the suspension letter were also forwarded to the PDP Chairman in Nkanu West Local Government Area, the PDP State Chairman in Enugu State and the PDP National Chairman.
