Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh who was the frontline chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nkanu East Local Government Area, was declared as the winner of the election after polling the highest number of total votes cast

"Let me begin by thanking His Excellency, the governor of ENUGU State , Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for providing an atmosphere for democracy to thrive in Enugu State" . 

Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, the Chairman Elect of Nkanu East Local Government Area thanked the electorate for the trust and confidence reposed in him. Hon Edeh described Saturday’s local government elections in the state as a victory for democracy.

The Chairman Elect, Hon Edeh, while addressing newsmen shortly after the declaration of the winner of the election by the electoral body (ENSIEC), expressed profound gratitude to God and dedicated the victory to God Almighty for making the vision a reality.

While commending the electoral body, Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC ) for conducting free, fair, transparent and credible council elections, Hon Edeh described the electoral process as very peaceful and successful exercise 

He also said the peaceful elections and victory of PDP at the poll is as a result of Governor’s Mbah's disruptive and exceptional performance in the state. He

also commended the leadership of our great party, the PDP from the ward to the state level and his campaign council for their untiring efforts throughout the electioneering process and at the poll.

"I thank all the people of Nkanu East LGA for trusting me with their mandate. It is humbling and reassuring that after 2 years in office, our people find our record of service compelling enough to vote for us.May I also thank all the wonderful people of Nkanu East local government area for their support and confidence reposed in me. I am overwhelmed by the sheer volume of votes given to me as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party.

“I thank our friends across the globe who consistently supported our campaign with prayers, counsel, encouragement, and in other ways 

Our manifesto is in line with Governor Mbah’s disruptive agenda which includes economy, security, education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, among others. The PDP government, under my leadership, will provide the platform to realise these objectives. We shall achieve this through honesty, justice, transparency, responsiveness, accountability, dedication, and courageous leadership.

He assured his people of socio-economic, infrastructural projects."   

According to him, effective security measures will be prioritized to protect lives and properties.He further underscored the importance of fostering urban-rural migration to stimulate economic activity and enhance the distribution of democratic benefits throughout the communities. to the various wards across the Nkanu East towards ameliorating the welfare of the people and complementing the effort of the governor His Excellency Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
