Former Kano State governor, Kabiru Gaya, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending his long-standing affiliation with the ruling party.
Gaya, who also represented Kano South in the Senate from 2015 to 2023, communicated his decision in a letter addressed to his ward chairman in Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State.
In the letter, he stated that his resignation takes immediate effect from April 5, 2026, describing the move as a product of careful reflection and extensive consultations.
He expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities it provided during his political career, particularly his tenure in the National Assembly, noting that he remained grateful for the support and trust he received.
However, he explained that stepping away from the party aligns with both his personal convictions and the broader interests of his constituents, adding that he considered the decision necessary at this time.
