Ali Bukar Dalori, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy National Chairman (North), has stepped in as the party’s Acting National Chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje.
Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, officially stepped down on Thursday. According to APC spokesperson Felix Morka, the resignation takes immediate effect and was made “to allow him attend to pressing personal matters.”
In his resignation letter addressed to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) via National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, Ganduje expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in the party’s top position.
Morka noted that President Tinubu has directed Dalori to take over in an acting capacity, pending an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to officially fill the role.
Ganduje, who hails from the North-West, took over the APC chairmanship in August 2023 after Abdullahi Adamu of the North-Central zone stepped down. However, his tenure was marked by internal dissent, especially from party members who felt his appointment breached APC’s zoning principles.
A two-term governor of Kano State (2015–2023), Ganduje was appointed in January 2025 as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). He’s also said to be under consideration for a non-career ambassadorial role.
