Following the declaration by the Enugu State Election Petition Tribunal, affirming the victory of Gov. Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as the winner of March 18, 2023 governorship election, a political analyst, cum media specialist, Buchi Nnaji has applauded the decision of the tribunal judges.

Speaking to newsmen in Enugu earlier today, Nnaji who is also the Managing Director of AnchorNews Media stated that "the decision of the tribunal judges is in order and expected because PDP remains the largest political party in Enugu state and control the highest number of membership".

He further explained that "Enugu state since 1999 has always been a PDP state, in the sense that PDP has always swept all the political positions in every election".

While admitting that winning the 2023 governorship election was the toughest contest so far for the Peoples Democratic Party, citing what he called the "Obidient movement" as reason, Nnaji however maintained that the judgement of the tribunal represents the true picture of the election result. He further added that "the people of Enugu State have been optimistic and we thank God that the wish of ndi Enugu was not upturned. .

"The PDP experienced a very tough time during the last election, and this is because of deadly betrayal by some members of the party, in addition to the 'Obidient movement' effect that shook the entire nation. As a result of this, PDP lost some of the political offices contested.

"Meanwhile, for the governorship election, Peter Mbah was obviously the choice of the majority of Enugu people. His closest rival, Mr Chijioke Edeoga couldn't have won the election. So, despite the 'Obidient' effect, Peter Mbah still won the election".

"The tribunal delivered a fair judgement and that is why there is peace and joy everywhere. The cases filed against Mbah at the tribunal are not substantial and shouldn't have come up in the first place.

"How can Someone say that a lawyer who was duly called to Nigeria Bar, and who has acquired several other certificates even in foreign universities submitted a forged certificate that is not even a basic requirement for contesting governorship position? That is ridiculous", Nnaji stressed.

On the performance of Governor Peter Mbah in office so far, Nnaji noted that the governor has shown signs of good things to come. He described Mbah as a disruptive Innovator who's previous achievements in the private sector lights up hope for the new Enugu State desired by the people.

"Someone who is coming from the private sector will definitely bring something new to the table. So far so good. The governor has been busy, reviewing extant laws and executive orders in a bid to creating a conducive environment for investment to thrive.

"Mbah promised us water in one hundred and eighty days. We have about sixty more days to go, and some areas are already testifying of receiving pipe borne water.

"Moreso, I feel that this is not a government that will tolerate corruption. So, a lot of resources will be saved and channeled towards infrastructural development that will benefit the masses" he concluded.

Nnaji who is optimistic about Mbah's administration commended the governor for winning the war against insecurity in Enugu State, adding that Mbah has put a lot of security apparatus in place to ensure maximum protection of lives and properties of citizens and residents.

Recall that before Governor Peter Mbah assumed office as the governor of Enugu State, activities of unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB were consistent, especially in the area of enforcing Monday sit-at-home as a way of demanding the release of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from prison custody.

Governor Peter Mbah had on assumption of office issued a statement banning the illegal sit-at-home order. Presently, people now go about their normal businesses on Mondays as normalcy has since returned to the state.
