Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has announced that she is now a three-time Guinness World Record holder, following confirmation that her September 2025 achievement also qualifies as the largest serving of rice overall.
Baci, who had earlier been recognised for preparing the world’s largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, revealed via Instagram on Tuesday that the same feat simultaneously broke another Guinness World Record. She updated her bio to read, “Chef X3 Guinness World Record Holder,” describing the development as an unexpected but joyful surprise.
According to an email from Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at Guinness World Records, a review of record guidelines showed that Baci’s attempt at the “Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice” also met the criteria for the “Largest serving of rice” category.
Reacting to the confirmation, Baci said she was shocked and delighted by the news, noting that she only became aware of the additional record months after the initial announcement.
She explained that what she believed to be a single record-breaking achievement had, in fact, resulted in two records on the same day, bringing her total Guinness World Records count to three.
In September 2025, Baci prepared 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a Lagos cookout, a feat officially recognised as the largest pot of the dish ever made worldwide. The accomplishment marked her second Guinness World Record, following her May 2023 record for completing a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon.
Baci credited her team for the success, singling out her collaborator, Oreoluwa Atinmo, for playing a key role in the journey from conception to execution. She also expressed gratitude to God, Guinness World Records, and her supporters for their contributions to the milestone.
The latest recognition further cements Hilda Baci’s status as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished chefs, highlighting both her culinary excellence and the global prominence of Nigerian cuisine.
