…Massive Turnout as Stakeholders Declare Unflinching Support for Gov. Mbah’s Reelection
It was a carnival-like atmosphere in Nkanu West Local Government Area on Tuesday, as an overwhelming crowd of enthusiastic supporters, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, clergy, youths, women, and community groups thronged St. John's Primary School, Agbani.
The occasion was the inauguration of local government and ward coordinators of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement (THM), widely regarded as the most vibrant grassroots support group championing the administration of Governor Peter Mbah.
Led by its President, Hon. Tony Okonkwo, the Movement received a rousing welcome, underscoring the growing momentum behind Governor Mbah’s governance and the deepening grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The sheer presence of key political actors across party lines reflected a rare unity of purpose, signaling cohesion, shared vision, and a collective resolve to sustain the current developmental trajectory of Enugu State.
The event commenced with an opening prayer by the Methodist Bishop of Agbani, Rev. Dr. John Okorie, followed by the traditional presentation of kolanut.
In his welcome address, the Nkanu West Coordinator of THM, Dr. Chika Igwesi, commended the massive turnout and charged the people to remain steadfast in their support for Governor Mbah. He emphasized that the administration has no viable alternative, assuring that Nkanu West is fully prepared to deliver a resounding victory for the Governor in 2027.
In a notable political alignment, the APC Chairman in Nkanu West LGA, Hon. Joseph Okoro Ngene, declared unequivocally that the council area stands firmly with Governor Mbah. He urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing their critical role in sustaining good governance through the ballot.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, Hon. John Ogbodo, who was widely applauded for his inclusive leadership, reiterated that Governor Mbah’s second term remains a top priority for the council. He praised the Governor’s performance and strategic political positioning, noting his ability to connect Enugu State to the national mainstream for greater opportunities.
Representing the Senator for Enugu East Senatorial Zone, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, his Chief of Staff, Hon. Victor Chigozie Eneh, delivered a powerful endorsement. He asserted that Governor Mbah’s reelection would not be based on precedent but on merit, anchored on his outstanding performance and tangible achievements.
In his well-received address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mainstream Media, Hon. Dan Nwomeh, described Governor Mbah as a transformative and visionary leader whose impact is visible across sectors within a short time. He expressed confidence that Nkanu West would deliver overwhelming support in the next election cycle.
Goodwill messages from prominent stakeholders further reinforced the unified stance. Among them were the State Chief Fire Officer, Chief Okwudili Ohaa; the President of Presidents-General of Autonomous Communities in Enugu State, Chief Arinze Ogbodo; the traditional ruler of Attakwu and Grand Patron of Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Igwe Dr. Greg Ugwu; Engr. Frank Nnaji; Barr. Ekene Okenwa; and the Chairman of the State Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB), Dr. Amaka Ngen; among others.
Adding vibrancy to the event, the Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Deputy President of THM, Hon. Ezenta Ezeani, engaged participants in an interactive session that tested awareness of government projects and policies, rewarding correct responses.
