As part of his deliberate move to provide quality healthcare services to the people of Nkanu West LGA, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Callistus Ejim has equiped and operationalized the Umuatugbuoma Health Center, in the council area.
The health center who's structure was begun by the community but completed by the immediate past chairman of the local government, Chief Nwabueze Nnamani has been fully equipped by the current administration of Hon Uche Ejim.
In his remark during the commissioning of the health facility earlier today, Ejim noted that his decision to put the centre into use is to key into the agenda of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah by ensuring that citizens and residents of the state access adequate healthcare services in shortest distance, irrespective of their location anywhere in the State.
Recall that Ejim recently commenced comprehensive renovation of Orjiagu Health Center in Agbani earlier gutted by fire many years ago, and has been in a state of absolute dilapidation for some years. This is in addition to other notable projects being executed by the council boss, which include the ongoing construction of a 3.7km asphalt road with double drainage channels, 7 crisscross reinforced culverts at Obinagu Uwani Akpugo community, completion of a bridge linking Umuokwuo and Amigbo communities in Akegbe Ugwu with handrails, construction of culverts in all the fourteen political wards in Nkanu West LGA, construction of concrete reinforced two storey security tower at Agbani Police Station among others.
Commissioning the health center, the Special Guest of Honor, Chief Nwabueze Nnamani thanked Governor Peter Mbah who according to him, "created a conducive environment for the local government administration to thrive in Enugu State".
Nnamani commended his successor, Hon. Uchenna Callistus Ejim for leading beyond expectations. He called on the people of Akegbe Ugwu and it's environs to make good use of the new health center for their well being.
The representative of Enugu State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Chinelo Nnadi while commending Ejim for being a health lover, assured that the Umuatugbuoma Health Center will receive every necessary support from the Primary Healthcare Board. She added that with the commissioning of the health center, Enugu State now has 571 health centers across the state.
Also in attendance are official of the World Health Organisation, Dr S.O. Obum.
Giving a vote of thanks, the honourable member representing Nkanu West State Constituency in the hallow Chamber of Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu thanked immensely the Council Boss, Hon. Ejim for his developmental strides, not just in Akegbe Ugwu ward two, but across the communities and all the political wards of Nkanu West LGA.
"Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah should be appreciated by Ndi Enugu for his developmental strides and his encouragements to the Council Chairmen for improved service delivery at the Local Government Areas across the State", Aniagu insisted.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the epoch making ceremony include the Administrator of Awkunanaw Development Center, Hon. Pius Ngene who donated twenty plastic seats to the facility, Honourable Anih Chukwuma who donated two plastic tables, former Senior Special Assistant to former governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Hon. Uwaezuoke Ogbodo, former President of Nigeria Society of Engineers, Enugu State chapter, Lady Engr. Dr. Uchenwa Ujam.
Some notable individuals who graced the occasion include HRH Igwe Greg Ugwu (Ochinawata), traditional ruler of Attakwu Autonomous Community, Chief Ernest Aniagu, Chairman, Ogbete Market Traders' Association, Rt. Rev. J. C Orji, Bishop of Akegbe Ugwu, Awgu and Aninri, Engr. Ugwudike Simeon, Nkanu West LGA Town Engineer, the leader of Nkanu West Legislative Council and all the fourteen Councillors of Nkanu West LGA, all the honourable Supervisors of the LGA and other health officials across all the health facilities across the Local Government Areas among others.
