It was an organic and voluntary gathering of grassroots supporters and political heavyweights from across Enugu East Local Government Area as the Tomorrow Is Here Movement stormed the LGA in a grand show of solidarity for Governor Peter Mbah.
The event, held on February 7 at Sunday Field, Abakpa, drew a mammoth and enthusiastic crowd. The atmosphere was vibrant, peaceful, and receptive as party faithful, traditional rulers, community leaders, and supporters gathered in large numbers.
The visit formed part of the statewide tour of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement, the prominent support group for Governor Peter Mbah’s administration, ably led by Hon. Tony Okonkwo. The purpose of the visit was to inaugurate the local government and ward coordinators in Enugu East LGA and to further propagate what the group described as the verifiable and visible achievements of Governor Mbah across the state.
The arrival of the “Tomorrow Is Here” train was greeted with thunderous cheers from supporters, setting the tone for a highly energized and successful outing.
In his address, Hon. Tony Okonkwo thanked the people of Enugu East LGA for turning out en masse. He emphasized that active political participation fosters peace, unity, and even development within the party, the local government, and the state at large.
He described Enugu East as a unique and strategic local government area, noting its location, population, and the calibre of leaders it has produced over the years.
Hon. Okonkwo reiterated that the movement remains committed to touring all local government areas in the state to evangelize what he termed Governor Mbah’s “outstanding and transformative strides,” which he said have positively altered the developmental and political landscape of Enugu State.
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Deputy President of the group, Prince Ezenta Ezeani, reeled out several achievements of Governor Mbah’s administration. These, he noted, include:
The construction of 260 Smart Schools and 260 Primary Healthcare Centers across the 260 wards of the state
Completion of the Enugu International Conference Centre
Increased potable water production and ongoing statewide water reticulation, completion of modern bus terminals, provision of CNG buses to enhance transportation and others.
