…Udenu will be key beneficiary of our govt - Mbah

It was fanfare as the people of Udenu North and Udenu East Development Centers in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State trooped out to endorse the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Dr. Peter Mbah and other candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections.

However, unlike other town hall meetings where the people tabled their needs, the people of Udenu, who spoke through their community and political leaders at Obollo Afor and Obollo Etiti, headquarters of Udenu North and Udenu East, respectively, said they were satisfied with Dr. Mbah's detailed manifesto.

They also added that with their son as the incoming deputy governor, they were certain that the interest of Udenu people were already protected.

At Obollo Afor, the Council Chairman, Hon. Solomon Onah; Member representing Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, Hon. Simon Atigwe; and a community leader, Emeka Vitalis Onah, described Dr. Mbah as a visionary entrepreneur with laudable antecedents.

"We have studied your manifesto. We salute the details of your vision and we are happy that our needs are well captured. Be it rural infrastructure, youth empowerment, security of lives and property, agricultural and rural transformation, among others, you have captured our needs and you have our support", Vitalis Onah stated.

At Obollo Eke, a community leader, Dr. Ikechukwu Agbo, reiterated the readiness of Udenu people to "surprise Mbah and the PDP with massive votes".

Affirming their resolve, the Council Chairman, Hon. Onah said: "This is not a day for long speeches. We have voted the PDP since 1999. We came second by volume of votes cast for the PDP in the 2019 governorship elections and we have been protesting because we ought to have come first. So, we will make a statement in the 2023 elections to reassert our dominance in the volume of votes and support for the PDP".

On his part, the state chairman of the PDP, Hon. Augustine Nnamani who described the crowds at the various town hall meetings as mammoth and organic, commended the people of Udenu for their loyalty to the PDP since 1999.

Speaking, the PDP governorship candidate, Dr. Peter Mbah, appreciated the people for the confidence reposed in him and Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, his running mate, assuring that Udenu LGA would be a key beneficiary of his administration when elected.

"I'm happy that you know that your interest is already covered by our manifesto and that Udenu will be a key beneficiary of the development agenda of our government.

"Whether it is transforming our youths from job seekers to job creators or our agriculture and agro-allied revolution agenda or our plans for rural transformation or our plans to fight insecurity using technology and job creation as well as our pledge to construct 10,000 kilometres of roads, among others, you can rest assured that your is interest guaranteed", he stated.

The event witnessed cultural displays and solidarity messages by numerous support groups, youth and women bodies.
