The newly appointed Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development in Enugu State, Mrs Ngozi Enih, has re-echoed her commitment to the governance philosophy of the administration of Governor Peter Mbah, stressing that the welfare of children and women in the state would be given priority by the government.
The commissioner who disclosed this at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Gender Affairs Friday at a meeting with the staff of the ministry, stressed that she was appointed by the state governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, to change the narrative in the state and would be glad to work with all the staff.
While calling for cooperation and common front among staff, Mrs Ngozi urged them to eschew rancour and bitterness that could negatively impact their productivity as a team.
According to her, she was on a mission to the ministry to cater for the humanitarian welfare of the less-privileged, especially those children and women whose hope had been dashed by lack of care and abandonment.
She further added that she is ready to work with every staff that has the passion to key into the governance philosophy of the present administration in order to achieve the goals of the government.
"Let us work as brothers and sisters, and make things work. With your cooperation, we can make Enugu State a state of our dream. This ministry is a mother ministry, and we are all expected to treat everyone with empathy and care. As you would recall; the governor has said it is going to be business unusual. So we are expected to change our attitude to work, take responsibility and be committed to the service we render the public,” she added.
The commissioner also enjoined members of the public to continue to support the ministry, keep their inputs and suggestions coming as the administration is interested in running a transparent, accountable, responsive and flexible policies.
Reacting, the Director for Administration and Supply, Dr Mrs Uzoamaka Okenwa Uzoechina, thanked God for the crop of leaders that would be driving the agenda of the government, pledging that they would do everything possible to support the administration and make it work.
