Peter Mbah’s government will focus on people’s welfare, Asogwa, Campaign DG assures women groups

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Director General (DG) of the Peter Mbah and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Organization, Chief Ikeje Asogwa has assured the people of Enugu State that the Enugu State PDP governorship candidate, Dr. Peter Mbah would focus on the welfare and development of the people of the state when he emerges the governor of the state.

Asogwa who disclosed this on Tuesday at the PDP campaign office in Nza Street, Enugu while hosting some women support groups who had paid familiarization and courtesy visits to his office further stressed that Mbah’s administration will usher in a new dawn in the state.

In his separate addresses to the popular women support groups in the state; Professional Women Support Group and Beloved Sisters, the former State PDP Chairman expressed confidence that with the efforts and zeal he had seen from the groups, the elections would be a walkover for the PDP.

While acknowledging the patron status conferred on him by one of the groups, Asogwa reiterated the resolve of the campaign organization to carry everyone along once campaign commences, saying Mbah has always maintained an open door policy to allow for inclusiveness.

“What I saw today are movements. Your population is impressive even when you called it courtesy visit. We are going to work together once campaign commences. We are waiting for the right time to hit the ground running. As you can see, we have not started campaigns because it’s not yet time. However, INEC will be lifting ban on electioneering campaigns on the 12th of this month (October), and our candidate, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah will be unveiling his manifesto on the 13th day of this month.

“Let me assure you that the new dispensation of Dr. Peter Mbah will carry everyone along in policy formulation and policy execution. He will build his government around the people. As you’ve known, Mbah is straightforward, focus and proactive. We know him to be positive-minded. This means that he has the will and ability to deliver on our mandate,” the business mogul added.

Asogwa who expressed his appreciation for the support that keeps pouring in from members of the public enjoined the women groups not to rest on their oars as there are still works to be done on the field.

“Our work shouldn’t be in the air-conditioned office. It should be on the field. We want you to mobilise as much canvassers from all the 260 wards and all the over 4000 polling units as you can,” the DG told the cheering women.

On their part, the two support groups, who came out in large number turned the campaign office into a colourful carnival as they pledged their allegiance and commitment to do everything within their reach to register their presence in all the polling units across the state even as they commended the appointment of the DG as the best decision taken by the PDP at a time a strong pillar and grassroots mobiliser was needed to deliver the party.

The groups who further expressed excitement at the way they were received by the DG and the Peter Mbah Women Coordinator, Hon. Rita Mbah, said their confidence to match to the field and win more supporters had been reinforced.

Speaking during the visit, the Director General of the Professional Women Support Group for Peter Mbah, Dr. Ifeyinwa Nnajieze promised to seize the opportunities afforded to them by their diversity in different professions to reach out to women across the state to support the PDP gubernatorial candidate.

Ifeyinwa added that the group’s members cut across people from all walks of life, including those at the rural areas. According to her, they decided to support Mbah’s candidacy because of their conviction in his competence, capacity and leadership qualities to move the state to the next level.

While felicitating with the PDP campaign DG on his new office, the women professional urged him to always inform them where they could come in and make meaningful impacts during the electioneering periods.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Beloved Sisters, Lady Adaeze Ogbu who spoke on behalf of the group, vowed to take their sensitization message to all the households in the state, saying Mbah was a perfect man for the job ahead.

Also hailing the choice of Asogwa as the DG, she said, “We came to tell you we are with you as the DG because we believe in your capacity to deliver PDP in the forthcoming elections. You did it in 2015 when you were the party chairman, and we know you will do it again.

“We shall follow you wherever you go because you have been winning before with your strategy. Our group was carefully selected to help our party to win these elections. One of our criteria is that you must have your voter’s card to be a member. Our voter’s card is our electoral weapon and passbook to winning the next elections. We all have it.”
