Earlier today, Nkanu West Local Government Council, LGC received the first tranche of the State Government's Fuel Subsidy Palliative at the Council secretariat, Agbani.
The Council took delivery of 2,800 bag of 25kg rice for onward distribution to the fourteen political wards according to the guideline of the State Government.
Receiving the palliative on behalf of the Council, the Chairman of the Local Government Palliative Distribution Committee, Hon. Sunday Edeh noted that "each of the fourteen wards is expected to get 200 bags of the 25kg rice latest, tomorrow (Tuesday 26th September 2023) morning as directed by the State Government".
Hon. Edeh who is also the Secretary to the LGC used the opportunity to call on the Ward Palliative Committee members to come to the Council Secretariat, Agbani by 8am, tomorrow, 26th September, 2023 to receive the palliative meant for their various communities making up the electoral wards.
"We have sent information across to the ward's Honourable Councillors who are the Chairmen of the Ward Palliative Committees in their respective wards to come by 8am tomorrow with other statutory committee members to take delivery of their palliative", Edeh said.
Speaking to AnchorNews reporter over the phone, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, Hon Uchenna Callistus Ejim while commending the State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for the palliative, stressed that he will ensure it gets to the targeted persons who are at the lowest ebb of the food chain in the society.
"I thank His Excellency, the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his magnanimity and compassion towards those on the lower rung of the food chain. His Excellency has demonstrated in a very short time how passionate he is about the downtrodden members of the society and we are very grateful" said the Council Boss.

Ejim emphasized that "the Council will device airtight strategy to monitor the distribution and ensure total compliance with the State Government directive for the sharing of the palliative which is targeted at the less privileged persons in our communities.
"I have also directed that all complaints and correspondences be channeled to the Local Government Coordinator of the palliative distribution, Hon. Modecaiah Sunday Edeh, or other members of the local government palliative committee who are Hon. Emeka Nwodo (Secretary), Hon. John Okorie (Leader, Nkanu West Legislative Council), Hon. Buchi Nnaji, and Hon. Soma Egbo" said the Chairman.
AnchorNews gathered that all the ward palliative committees across the state had earlier compiled the names of 1000 less privileged persons in their various wards who are going benefit from the subsidy removal palliative.
