The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it is prepared for whatever challenges may arise ahead of the 2027 general election, insisting that it is confident of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if the poll is free and fair. The party said its major concern was not its electoral strength but the credibility and transparency of the electoral process.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this during an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast, where he was asked whether the opposition party could realistically defeat the incumbent amid the multiplicity of opposition groups. Abdullahi maintained that the ADC had no doubt about its chances under a credible electoral process.

He said the party was ready to protect its votes, alleging that the APC could attempt to manipulate the 2027 election. Abdullahi declared that the ADC would “police” its votes and prepare for any eventuality during the electoral process.

The ADC spokesman also referred to a recent comment attributed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, concerning the outcome of the Osun State governorship election. Abdullahi said Wike's suggestion that he could have delivered Osun State for the APC if he had been there raised questions about the possibility of political influence over electoral outcomes.

Abdullahi further alleged that the ruling party had resorted to threats because it had lost public support. “We know Nigerians have abandoned them,” he said, adding that the ADC was therefore preparing to ensure that its supporters and votes were adequately protected throughout the 2027 electoral process.

With the 2027 election approaching, the ADC's position signals an increasingly competitive opposition campaign and places electoral credibility at the centre of the political contest. While the party expressed confidence in its ability to defeat the APC, its leadership stressed that such an outcome would depend on an election that is free and fair.
