Chukwuegbo, Nwoye, Obieze named as Guests of Honour for 3rd Frontier Discourse Public Lecture and Awards

Rt. Hon. Prince Ofor Chukwuegbo

Rt. Hon. Prince Ofor Chukwuegbo was the immediate past member representing the people of Enugu North and South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly. 

Prior to joining politics, he worked as Operations Manager at Private Network Ltd, the leading analogue telephone company. He was to rise to the position of Chief Executive Officer, in merited recognition of his leadership and resourcefulness. He went on to set up many other businesses; Wireless Point Communications, Private Concept Limited and BYK Fishing Company;

In 2003, Ofor Chukwuegbo contested and won election under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the State House of Assembly, representing the people of Enugu South Urban Constituency where he served as Chairman, House Committee on Works, Housing and Transport.

His political stock which was in steady ascendency rose even further in 2007 as he got elected into the Federal House of Representatives where he served creditably for an initial two terms, representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency. In 2015, Ofor couldn’t return back to the green chambers until 2019 when he won another election to the House of Reps, to continue his representation and service to the people of Enugu North and South Federal Constituency. Prince Chukwuegbo was Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Police affairs in the 6th Assembly (2007-2011) and Chairman House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in the 7th assembly (2011-2015). He is a Member, Governing Council, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abuja. He was Chairman House Committee on Abandoned Projects in the Ministry of Water Resources, and a member of several other committees. 

Dr. Ben Nwoye, Esq.

Dr. Ben Nwoye is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was the Enugu State Chairman of the Party from 2014-2021. He also served as the Enugu State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman.

During his sojourn in the United States of America, he practiced as a Civil Rights Lawyer. He holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the prestigious Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.

In the 2011 general elections, spurred by a desire to serve, Nwoye ran for Senate under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) party to represent Enugu East Senatorial Zone. He repeated same in the 2015 general elections under the now ruling All Progressives Congress.

He is the Executive Director of Opeans Nigeria Limited, a safety consulting company, providing safety in Oil & Gas, Maritime and the Military, with locations in Port-Harcourt, Warri and Lagos.

Nwoye was appointed a Federal Commissioner representing the Southeast region in the Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze

Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze was the immediate past member representing Ezeagu constituency at the Enugu State House of Assembly where he served for two terms and also was the Chairman, House Committee on Works, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development.

He is a Poet, Writer, Farmer and Lawyer. 

He is a Member, Nigerian Institute of Chattered Arbitrators NiCArb; Fellow, Institute of Chattered Public Administrators of Nigeria (ICPAN)

Formerly, he served as Students’ Rights Activist/Students Union President of ESUT;  West African Secretary Young Lawyers Forum; Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation to Ex-Gov Orji Uzor Kalu; Senior Legislative Assistant to the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate.

A recipient of several awards including the Ooni of Ife Royal African Distinguished Youth Award and 2019 Nelson Mandela Leadership Excellence ICON Award, Obieze is a Graduate of the Cambridge University Leadership Masterclass and Convener, Change Nigeria Youth Initiative. 

During the 2019 general elections, he was the Youngest member of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

The Third Frontier Discourse Annual Public and Awards will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Hotel Sunshine, Presidential Road, Independence Layout, Enugu, by 11am (Green Carpet).

The Keynote Speaker, Ike Neliaku, Ph.D, fnipr, ficmc, President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, will speak on "The Post Subsidy Economy - Exploring Bold Initiatives For Economic Recovery In Nigeria".

Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike and Mr. Emeka Mba, CEO of Afia TV & Radio and a former Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission have both been named as Co-Chairmen of the event. 

While The Rt. Rev. Dennis O. Mark (Methodist Bishop of Awkunanaw Diocese) will be the Spiritual Father of the Day, HRM Igwe Godwin N. Madu, JP (Mbaogu 11 of Mbaogu Kingdom & Ezeala 111 of Achi) and HRH Igwe Barr. R.S.N Ezeh (Chairman, Enugu North Traditional Rulers Council) will be the Royal Fathers of the Day.

Awards will be presented by Hon. Uchenna Ejim (Executive Chairman, Nkanu West LGA) and a discourse to commemorate the 74th Anniversary of the Coal Miners Massacre will also be held, to be led by Historian, Dr. Ferdi Anikwe.
