Former House of Representatives member, USA Igwesi has described the Enugu State Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) governorship candidate, Dr Peter Mbah as an asset to the people of the Coal city state.
He told Daily Sun that President Muhammadu Buhari’s commissioning of $1 billion Pinnacle petroleum off-take facility in Lekki on Saturday has proved that Mbah is not the ‘everyday Nigerian politician’.
The former leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly said that for the first time, the Coal city state would enjoy the services of a real technocrat who has excelled in the private sector.
Igwesi said Mbah would use his wealth of experience in the oil and gas industry to transform the state from a civil service to an industrial state.
He enjoyed all Enugu residents irrespective of party inclination to support Mbah who he described as a huge asset to people of the state.
Igwesi who is one of the Directors of Mbah Grassroots Canvassers, a group mobilizing for the victory of the Mbah/Ossai ticket said that every right thinking Enugu indigene should be proud of the exploits of Pinnacle in the highly competitive oil and gas industry.
“I was at the commissioning of the project in Lekki and I want to say without fear of contradiction that every person at the event including President Buhari who spoke virtually was proud of Pinnacle. Peter Mbah is a pride to Ndigbo and Nigeria as a whole.
“So, to have such a man as the governor of Enugu State calls for celebration. Better days are ahead of the people of Enugu State. Some people are thanking God that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is his wisdom made such a choice.
“The best legacy Ugwuanyi is leaving for the people of Enugu is ensuring that a man of Mbah’s calibre would succeed him to consolidate on his numerous achievements”, he said.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday commissioned the Pinnacle Oil and Gas FZE terminal, saying the operations of the facility have eased congestion in the Apapa area, reduced cost and delivery of petroleum product distribution to many parts of our country.
In a video message at the inauguration of the facility, the President congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Limited, Peter Mbah, for establishing the massive terminal facility and providing hundreds of jobs to Nigerians.
The President described the investment as a demonstration of the success of his administration’s agenda to transform the nation’s economy, adding that government looks forward to many more investments of this magnitude.
Assuring investors of the continued support of the Federal Government in efforts to elevate the growing prosperity of the country, President Buhari said:
“Provision of energy security is one of the cardinal points of our administration.
“We have recognized that seamless supply and distribution of petroleum products is challenged by infrastructure deficit and complicated by the congestion in the Apapa areas of Lagos since the start of our administration in the year 2015.
”We provided targeted support to the energy industry by providing an enabling environment, including regulatory facilitation, to ensure investment in critical infrastructure.
”I am happy today that Pinnacle Oil and Gas limited leveraged the opportunities and established this massive terminal facility.”
