The Super Eagles have returned to training after temporarily boycotting their Tuesday evening session over unpaid allowances.
Players and officials of Nigeria’s national football team had earlier refused to train in protest against outstanding payments from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which included bonuses for qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 World Cup playoffs.
Although details of the agreement between the team and the NFF were not made public, team captain William Troost-Ekong confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the issue had been resolved.
“Issue resolved. We are together and, as before, focused on the games ahead,” he wrote, assuring fans of the team’s commitment.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Gabon on Thursday in the semi-final of the 2026 African World Cup playoffs. The winner will advance to meet either Congo DR or Cameroon in the final for a place in the intercontinental playoff.
