Google's Gemini AI Set to Arrive on Android Ware Os

After months of teasing, Google’s Gemini AI looks poised to make its debut on Android smartwatches.

A newly leaked promotional image for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 — shared by tipster Roland Quandt — features the phrase “Ask Google Gemini” on the watch face, alongside Gemini's distinctive logo. As reported by 9to5Google, this suggests Gemini may first roll out on Samsung wearables before expanding more broadly across the Wear OS platform.

Earlier this year, Google confirmed that Gemini would eventually replace Google Assistant on all compatible devices. Smartwatches currently using Assistant will be upgraded to Gemini in time. However, devices without Assistant support likely won't gain access to the new AI.

While Gemini was announced alongside Wear OS 6, it won't be tied to that update. "Gemini is independent of Wear OS 6," said Jaime Williams, product manager for Wear OS, in a May interview with The Verge. That means existing Wear OS watches can install Gemini as a standalone app, rather than having to wait for a full OS upgrade.
