(Enugu North Future Leaders Forum)

The embattled and factional governorship candidate (though sacked by the court) of Labour Party in Enugu, Barrister Chijioke Edoga has continued to trend in the news for the wrong reasons. Few days ago, Edoga and his gang of desperados almost caused a stampede as they forcefully, without recourse to protocol, badged into the presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi at an event held in the state.

As expected, condemnation from various quarters trailed the ignominious conduct of Edoga and his unruly team for throwing decorum to the air while jostling for photographs with Mr Obi. 

Rather than tender apology for the unruly conduct unbecoming of a man that has occupied several plum political positions, Edoga has embarked on yet another ignominious journey, this time at Igbo Eze North local government area of the state.

At a scantly attended rally in the council which looked more of a funeral ground, Edoga, accompanied by some boisterous-looking individuals, he, in his newly acquired knack for garrulousness told some equally gloomy-looking women how Ejike Itodo, the Executive Chairman of Igbo Eze North is hoarding funds belonging to the council to be used as campaign material in the coming election. He equally went ahead to categorically state that the PDP, the party that made him whomever he is plans to share the sum of #50,000 each to electorates at the polling booths.

Edoga's diatribe, though typical of a man that has lost touch with political decency, is capable of inciting the people of Igbo Eze North against the Mayor of the council. But one fact worthy of note is that the women who sheepishly danced to the tune of Edoga and his co-travellers did that at least to benefit from the largesse he visited them with, not that they believed his cooked up story, the type some randy men cooks up just to get at their prey.

Edoga should be told by his accomplices in Igbo Eze North that the council is recovering from a surge in insecurity and an attempt to derail the proactive measures of our relevant stakeholders in restoring peace in our land through some unguarded utterances capable of inciting the public and in extension, give room for public unrest will not be treated with kid gloves. 

The Mayor of Igbo Eze North is in good rapport with the masses and needs no stranger to tell them the 'sins' of their leader. Edoga who has been shopping for any available means to look acceptable before the people, including literally holding Peter Obi hostage in a bid to 'extract' photos with him should concentrate on wiggling out of court imbroglio that saw him unceremoniously removed as the party's candidate. Coming all the way from Isi Uzo to pour opprobrium on our council Mayor underscores his desperation and lustfulness for power. Though I can understand that whom the gods want to kill, they first make him mad.

To show how disconnected Edoga has become, his entourage was equally scanty, a highlight of his rejection by Ndi Enugu. A man who is at loggerheads with his umunna will always record a scantly attended ceremony. Edoga should take his message of doom to his community.
