...lambasts APC flagbearer for lack of agenda
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuishi Mbah, has been commended for his dynamic, robust and progressive programmes and agenda for the people of Enugu State in 2023 if elected governor.
This was even as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Mr. Uchenna Nnaji has been lambasted for his failure to present his programmes for the people.
This commendation was made on Friday at Ndiagu Akpugo, in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State by the Archbishop of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev Prof. Emmanuel Chukwuma (OON) during his sermon at the burial ceremony of the former Military Administrator of Osun and Abia states, Colonel Anthony Obi (rtd).
Bemoaning the suffering Nigerians are currently passing through under the APC, the archbishop stressed that Nigeria could not afford to vote another set of bad leadership riddled with corruption and irresponsibility in 2023.
“Today in Nigeria, the evil people are on the throne. We are suffering in Nigeria because they have refused to remember the poor people around them.
“Day by day we are in debts. Day by day we are in trouble. The way the APC people are squandering our money is heartwrenching. Look at (Abubakar) Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, and the way they are spending our money. Over 300 billion dollars plundered by these people.
“Look at the government that is fighting corruption; it is a shame how money is missing. The Accountant General of Nigeria swallowed 109 billion naira and he was granted bail just like that,” the Archbishop fumed.
Addressing the mammoth crowd at the event, the popular clergy expressed his gratitude at the presence of the dignitaries who paid their last respects to the former military governor, adding that he had engaged Mbah and assessed his laudable programmes for the State.
“Let me use this opportunity to welcome Dr. Peter Ndubuishi Mbah to the occasion. You said the future has come, and we know who you are, and we so much believe in you. We all know where you’re coming from and can vouch to your unblemished track records and entrepreneurial antecedents in the private sector.
“This man you are seeing here today called Mbah has his clearly defined and well-spelt out programmes for the state in 2023 marshalled out before me. They are very impressive. He is an entrepreneur and has resources. So, he is very reliable and viable for governorship in the state,” he added.
Meanwhile the Archbishop has berated the governorship standard bearer of the APC over his failure to show his programmes and agenda for the state, expressing his doubt over what the candidate has to offer the State.
“The APC governorship candidate in Enugu State, Uchenna Nnaji is here. Up till now, I doubt if the APC has any programme for Enugu State. I have not heard him speak about what he has to offer to the State. This is the only country where some political parties will manufacture political bishops to inaugurate their flag-off.
Calling out the APC governorship candidate who was seated at the event, Archbishop Chukwuma said: “I have not seen your agenda for the state. So, I can’t say anything about what you have to offer the people. However, we are still expecting your manifesto and we shall know who is who. I know Mbah very well right from the time he was the Chief of Staff. I know his office in Lagos and what he is doing. He has a tangible career. He is an entrepreneur and has resources. So, he is very viable for governorship in the state. So, we are with you. Move on.
“For others, I will still interrogate them about what they are doing for a living. Then, we will weigh their credibility. For now, however, we are not Obidient and I’m being frank with you. I hope you people can hear me?
“We are sourcing for people that will come and make Nigeria to be better, and for Enugu State to continue with its good governance. We don’t want people that will come to position and flop. I’m not becoming partisan but being truthful about life. May God forgive and save us in Jesus name. We must call on God to save us and work towards ensuring that evil people will not take over power,” Chukwuma further added.
Amongst the dignitaries at the event were the governorship candidate of the PDP in Enugu State, Dr Peter Ndubuishi Mbah, Nkanu West local government chairman, Hon. Uchenna Ejim, his Nkanu East counterpart, Hon. Sydney Edeh, House of Representatives members representing Nkanu West/East Federal Constituency and Enugu South/Enugu North Federal Constituency, Hon.
