Following the announcement of the date and details for the Third Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards scheduled to hold in Enugu on Saturday, November 18, 2023, organisers of the event, Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, have unveiled the topic to be discussed.

Disclosing this in a statement issued in Enugu, the Acting Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Ms. Dabere Egbo noted that topics chosen for discussion were usually timeously, relating to the prevailing theme in the country.

She revealed this year's topic as *"The Post Subsidy Economy: Exploring Bold Initiatives for Economic Recovery in Nigeria"*, while stating that the Keynote Speaker will be made public after the voting process for the nominees.

On the idea behind the topic, she emphasized that following the removal of subsidy on PMS, there was a need to help Nigerians not to sink in the flood of the resulting economic conditions.

"On Monday, May 29, 2023, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, had, during his swearing-in ceremony, declared, “Subsidy is gone”.

"The reason behind selecting the topic “The Post Subsidy Economy: Exploring Bold Initiatives for Economic Recovery in Nigeria” is twofold – the Nigerian reality and Southeastern region’s reality – and it is imperative that we address both aspects with urgency.

"Firstly, the removal of petrol subsidy has indeed triggered some significant challenges such as inflation, a presidential declaration of a state of emergency on food security and a rise in the cost of living. Some other economic decisions like the free floating of naira have also followed. The aftermath of this decision to remove subsidy has led many to face economic strangulation, and we must now devise bold initiatives and strategies, an economic survival kit, so that Nigeria and the Southeast region can survive and thrive in these challenging times.

"Secondly, we find inspiration in the resilience displayed by the Igbo tribe of Nigeria after experiencing severe economic devastation following the civil war. They managed to rise above the odds and rebuild their lives and communities. Their success serves as a powerful message of hope and determination, proving that even in the face of adversity, economic recovery is possible with the right initiatives and collective efforts", Egbo stated.

She said the lecture will "provide practical solutions and bold economic initiatives and strategies to empower people to navigate this challenging phase successfully".

In the maiden and second editions, topics considered were: Mental Power at the Mercy of Political Will, Nigerian Politics and Its Conscious Play to Ignorance; and The Purpose of Power: Ambition For Common Good and Our Culture of Silence and Endurance, respectively.
