Gov. David Umahi

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State has berated APC leaders and delegates from southeast for being sellout during the APC primaries in Abuja. Umahi who made this comment while delivering his speech at the maiden matriculation ceremony of King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu expressed his disappointment over the failure of delegates from the South East to cast their votes for candidates from the zone.

The governor who was a major contender in the APC presidential ticket described the action of the sotheast delegates and leaders as a betrayal to the Igbo race, stressing that by selling their votes to aspirants from other zones, especially the north, they have equally proved to the Northerners that they cannot be trusted.

"the worst is the betrayal of our leaders and the delegates. i wept internally and externally for the behaviour of our delegates and our leaders. i know i had meeting with the five southeast chairmen of APC and i told them it is not about me, it is about the agitation and the mood of the nation, and I begged them to vote for any candidate from southeast, so that when our votes are counted behind all the contestants of southeast, it should not be less than the number of our delegates.

"By so doing we would have made a statement, but it became a shame that our leaders and the delegates sold all our votes. it is a very big shame and let me say it publicly, for our people to be shouting of marginalization and whenever they have opportunity to make a statement, they will sell their votes.

"I will continue to let them know that he that sells his brother or sister, even the buyers will not trust him or her", said Umahi.
